Spoon N1
Hey to all you ITR owner with the Spoon Sports N1 axleback. I am looking to get one and was curious to know what b pipe you guys were using. Also, is there a better exhaust system setup of mild engine tuning all motor. I am looking to get close to the 200 whp mark and just wanted to see what kinda exhaust systems you guys are running. BTW I will be using a Toda or Spoon Header and probably a carsound cat or T1R test pipe. thanks in advance. Stephen
Options:
Stock b-pipe
Stock b-pipe with bottlenecks taken out
Aftermarket b-pipe: T1R, Spoon, Comptech Etc
I would recommend getting an aftermarket one unless you have access to a good muffler shop in your area that can remove the bottlenecks on your stock one.

SMS modified Carsound + Spoon N1 + T1R b-pipe. Rattles are not nearly as bad w/ the heatshields removed but it does still make quite a bit of noise.
I would say thought it looks nice, sounds nice, and seems to make pretty good power. Here's a pic of the exhaust.
Oh yeah, with the T1R b-pipe expect it to sit a little to the left.

Anyone have the complete Spoon Setup? I was just looking at one the other day and I wondered if it fit the Car like the stock piping does. I really don't want a rattling exhaust. So I was going for either Spoon or Mugen. One as just as easy to get as the other but the Spoon unit is considerably cheaper than the Mugen unit.
Also does anyone run the Sub silencer with the Spoon N1? What does it sound like?

I definetly do not want a rattling exhaust, nor do I want something with a raspy or buzzin exhaust tone. I hear the Fujitsubo exhaust is one of the best sounding exhaust but it seems pricing is an issue with RM01a. I also hear that the Spoon N1 sounds awesome on a B18C5 so I figured that would be the better route to take. Chris93Si what header are you using and are you referring to heat shields on the cat. Also is there a reason that not many people use the Spoon B-pipe with the Spoon N1 axle back. I was just curious to know cause it seems like everyone uses something other than spoon for a b-pipe Thanks again for all the replies.
I think cause the Spoon B pipe has bottle necks? Atleast that is what I was told.
I noticed a Small reduction i dimeter Just after the Resonator and just before the AXEL BACK Flange.
I have also Herd that the Spoon N1 is Nice Sound BUT how about with the Silencer in it? I like the Spoon N1 but it is a bit LOUDER than i was actually looking for, but I guess I can get used to it or add a secon resonator to lower the DB at bit.

Few answers, here goes...
- I'm running a JDM DC 4-1. I've removed the heatshields over the b-pipe, the one over the cat is in place (it didn't rattle).
- I'm fairly sure the Spoon b-pipe has been discontinued, I was always under the impression that the T1R b-pipe has a very similar design to the Spoon unit (the newer ones have no bottleneck though).
- My exhaust combo isn't really loud at all, well it's loud but it isn't extemely loud. It's a very livable exhaust and it sounds really nice, it's got a really deep sound.
Overall I'd say I like my exhaust, the only real drawback is the rattles but w/ the removal of the heatshield those are more or less gone. I'd definitely recommend this setup, I think it looks really good (not too big/noticable) and it sounds great. Hope that helps

Thanks alot Chris, that does help, I appreciate your time. Sounds like you have a really good setup and I think I might go that route with mine. Basicly what I'm looking for is a quiet exhaust until Vtec kicks in then I want it to scream. From what I understand the Spoon N1 and Fujitsubo exhaust do just that. Thanks again for your help.
No problem. As far as quiet until VTEC well it's not quiet but it's not super loud. I mean it's definitely loud but it's a good loud and it is not obnoxiously loud. Honestly I'd say it isn't quite as loud as the Apex'i N1 catback I had on my Prelude and I didn't really think that exhaust was that loud.
But yeah good setup and I've only heard good things about the Fujitsubo (sp?) too. Let us know what you decide.

I am running the Spoon header, carsound cat, and spoon N1 right now. I ordered the spoon b-pipe and it should be here on Tuesday. I will most likely install it on tues or wed. and ill let you guys know how the full spoon exhaust system sounds. I think it is going to sound mean as hell.

Hmmm guess I was wrong about the Spoon b-pipe being discontinued. Did you buy it new? By any chance do you know if they revised the design to remove the bottlenecks like they did with the N1? Let us know how you like it.
Yes they did revise the design to remove the bottle necks. They also did this with the new spoon N1. I have the old spoon n1 with the bottle neck and new spoon b pipe on tuesday with no bottle necks. Yes i bought it new from JDMhondaparts.com cause they have it on special. I will let you guys know how i like it.

i'd suggest custom 2.5" exhaust.. mandelr bent and stainless steel.. smsp exhaust is 2.5".. so is t1r..

Yeah I was just about to ask this. Cause I saw it and there was a decrease in diameter just before the Flange.

My buddy Mickey (TypeRyo) is using the T1R b-pipe with his Spoon N1 and the thing has both the greatest tone and performance. OR, maybe i can say that cause hes running the Toda Header
You will be happy with the T1R b-pipe with whatever rear section you choose
