new here got a question..
first let me say im new here... just got my 90crx w/zc
caught the car really cheap cause it had few problems...
anyways one of the most annoying problems i have is that the idle is all freaked up...
i mean when i first start it the idle jumps up to 2k and then settles back to around 1k-1.2k.. but at any given time the motor starts to go crazy.. idle bounces from 500 to 1500... never less than 500rpm and never more than 1500rpm.. but once it starts it doesnt stop until i turn the car off and let it sit for a bit...
the guy that sold it to me said that he thought it might be the fuel pump going bad?.. that sound right?
I personally feel its got a vaccum leak somewhere or i got a bad sensor somewhere....
I have checked the oil and coolent levels and both are fine and neither one is contaminated with each other..
I am new to honda's and have always wanted a crx so i dont really know much about the car. I have the book but what the book doesnt have is the vaccum diagram of the DOHC motor..
I dont know where to start here.. any suggestions...
Thank You.

using the "search" function is your best bet on here.........try that or else you're in for some flamin'
Could be the throttle position sensor? Try searching on that or it's also called the TPS. It needs to be calibrated correctly for the car to run/idle right.

Well, if you're new to Honda's you probably don't know where to check for codes. Under the passenger side carpet (where the pedals would be on the opposite side). Turn your key on and count how many times the little red light flashes, but don't count the very first one. I agree with the other guys about the TPS, which is code 7, or 7 blinks of the red light, haha. But I think there is another problem to your car, because you said at any given time it starts freaking out. But check your ECU for which code(s) you have.
Kind of off topic, but I could have bought a 90 CRX with the ZC DOHC for $900 with tons of crap done to it, but I didn't have the money....

Yeah, that's kinda scary if you ask me. That's why I'd recomend that you do the swap yourself, so you know "where it's been". But anyway, good luck with that, and I'm in agreement that it's a TPS.
well i found out what my problem was.. the EACV.. my car starting to do the idle dance and i unplugged it and low and behold it stopped dancing on my.. hmmm.. must replace that now...
now i got another problem... they guy that had the car before me must of recently tried to do the brakes.. becuase when i pulled the wheel off i noticed that both the screws that hold on the rotor were stripped out.. grrrrrrrrr.... now i dont have any experiance with stripped out screws that like.. how can i get them out without taking my car in for someone to do the brakes for me....

Sears sells a drill set called "Easy Outs" this will help you remove the damaged screws. You'll need to have one to put back.
OR you can take a dremmel tool and carve a deep line/ slot across the damaged area, and use a big screwdriver to break it loose.
Both the easy outs, and the dremmel tool will come in handy over and over and over again.

Really? Mine went bad today and the only times it messed up was when it was just idling... The thing would just slowly go from 1200 rpm to about 1700 and cut out, then go back, over and over. When I gave it some gas, it reved up just fine, but didn't fall back down as quickly as it usually does.... But anyways, good luck with the stripped screws. EZ outs work wonders....

Hmmm? Interesting I just found this post and was going to tell you the EACV otherwise known as the IACV. My A6 was doing the same thing till I replaced it.
