covering shift knob wire so it doesnt look terrible..
i just installed an led type r shift **** in my car... looks great except for the fact that the led wire runs down the side of the shifter into the boot... since its a type r **** the boot sits down lower... so you can see the wire for a while. looks like crud, any suggestions on how to cover up the wire?
...get a new ****. The Type R shift ***** never had LED's so techincally it cant be a Type R. Anyways, i really have no idea on how to hide the wire. The only thing i can think of is to get a shift boot that sits higher, or take some black electrical tape and tape down the wire. Probably wouldnt be able to see it.
most "type r" products arent real anyway... i called it type r for lack of a better description since it was labeled as a type r ****. regardless, i enjoy the **** a lot, and i like that it lights up at night, so no i will not get a new ****. they sell those ***** and people buy them, someone must have come up with a way to hide the wire!!! electrical tape would look ok for a while, but that stuff gets all gummy and nasty after like 2 or 3 weeks =\

i dont want to use electrical tape becuase it gets gummy after a hot day, and just falls apart. As for the shift boot... if i try to extend it all the way up, it looks retarded becuase it stretches it all the way out. I may be looking at getting a custom boot as my only option =\. Anyone else got any ideas before i do that?
yea, but i dont believe he was asking fo' an opinion. He wanted help with hiding the wire...
what color is the wire? can you color/paint it black? and cable tie it below the boot so its tight against the shifter?

cover it in some techflex expandable nylon sleeving, and finish it off with some heatshrink.
I make this stuff all day long, look here:
http://www.performance-pcs.com
We use it for PC's, but you could use it for any cable management

good idea... i can just paint it black to match the rest of the shifter, other than that it fits up nicely right against the shifter... so it shouldnt be a big deal. thanks for the tip.
btw.. whats a nylon sleeve and where do you get it?

man what is up with this site? i ask a simple question and i get a bunch of snobby ****** ******** writting smart *** comments. look, i dont give 2 ***** if you like my **** or not, and i aint asking for your flaming opinion!!! if you arent going to post an idea of how to hide the wire, then GTFO of my thread! thanks a ****** lot!
And here's sumthing technical for you
The shift **** is your first contact with your vehicle's transmission, which of course is an integral part of the drivetrain. The first thing i look for in a shift **** is grip and comfort. Having any sort of wire interfering with your shift **** is not practical.
And, if you have to ask all of us how to hide a wire, you either
A) have it really so visible that no suggestion from us could help
B) are to lazy/moronic to think technically and solve a simple problem
Just cause it lights up dont make it cool ....or maybe you like neon like so many jizz thermos's out there seem to enjoy
