Default Do bolt-ons help?

Hi there! A lot of people had been brainwashed by different manufactures about the power of bolt-ons. "Our intake addes 5 hp, the header adds 15hp and etc.." I have a question to people who actually went from completely stock cars to cars with every bolt on possible. Do bolt-ons improve performance by significant amount or is it just a waste of money time and oxygen? I am talking about simple stuff here: headers, intakes, exhausts, ignition systems. I am about to get some mods done to my stock '91 CRX Si and I don't want to waste money. Thank you,

yes bolt on will improve performance , weither or not it add that much depends on the product , some will do what is advertised some wont and some are close , remember they are trying to sell YOU there product , as for the real answer , anytime you improve the air flow , intake or exhaust , it will improve performance , but proper tuning is required to reep the full benifits of each bolt-on. So now i probably really confused you!

Oh, yeah I knew the part about the air flow, my question was is it really worth it? Is it worth putting all bolt-ons? They're are not that cheap as you know it Mabbe its smarter to save up all the money and get somethig serious, thanks

Well think about it. if you get something serious im probably betting you mean NOS, Supercharger or Turbo. Bigger Throttlebody, Larger injectors, Exhaust, all these are bolt ons and they help your engines air flow and fuel flow, and yes they are worth getting because they help out even if you have NOS, Supercharger, or Turbo. But if i were you id see what i was gonna do first, turbo? Supercharger? NOS? so you dont waste any unwanted money. Ive seen guys buy every bolt on you cna think of only to get rid of half of em when they all of a sudden decide to go forced induction.

Yeah, exactly the same thing bothers me. I am not willing to spend money on some stuff that is going to become useless later on. Plus I think that if you really want to go fast, you need to improve everything, just random bolt-ons won't do it.
