Default autocross Q on 99/00 si...

hey all, anyone know how low i can run the tank in a 99/00 civic si? i know with the 92-95 civics i can run on empty, and the 88-91 requires a full tank, but what about the 96-00, specifically the si? i am driving the wifes car at a local event and i never ran it before. thansk for any info

I had a 2000 Civic Si for a couple of years. I ran it at a 1/4 tank with no problems.

I normally run a 1/2 tank. With 1/4 tank my car would stall on long sweeping turns, I forget if it was left or right sweepers.

Mine will starve for fuel at even 3/8ths tank at some of the higher G-loads. I'd shoot for 1/2 tank to be safe.

When I was still racing my 00 si I would run it on full empty with the light on and would never starve. I actually ran out of gas after my 3rd run on the 2nd day at the first SEDiv this year.

I have never run into fuel starvation problems in my 2000 si. I usually show up with a 1/4 tank or less. I have done many laps with the fuel light on and never had a problem.

Maybe the people having problems are running in stock class with sticky tires and a lot of body roll? My STS setup probably doesn't generate as many G's.

Autocrossing has never been a problem, but VIR has been.

I've run til my fuel light came on with no problems. But I usually compete with 1/8-1/4 tank of gas.

hmmm, interesting. I've run 1/4 - 1/8 tank in the CRX without any problems.

Good luck.

well, i have not experienced this personally, but chrisshen, last years STS national champ, told me that they fuel starve under 3/4 of a tank if i remember correctly. maybe you guys aren't driving them hard enough..... just messing
spence, yeah i drove the wifey's si at nassau. wtf were you? it was pooring, and only managed a 6th out of 20 cars in the am session. in the afternoon i got greedy and jumped into kokinias' toyota mrs and took third.

I think it depends on the time and # of runs you get. If you only get 2 or 3 runs on a 40 sec course, i'm sure a 1/4 tank will be fine. Localy, we get 6 to 8 timed runs on an 80+ second course, and i can go throug half a tank if i do some fun runs afterwards. I don't know how much this helped but good luck anyways.

I have a '00 GSR. I have been told they have the same tank and pickup as the SI (if its true I don't know). I can run with the gas light on. In fact I prefer it.

The only car that I know of in the Honda family that has pick up problems are the Type Rs, which is why they are lighter because they are missing the baffles (and of course every other creature comfort)

My 91 fuel starves on track (road course) at less than 1/4 tank.
