A special "Thank You" to some folks from this board
Hi folks,
This past weekend was one of the highlights of my very-brief driving career. I passed the comp school, won the "mock"race in the comp school (little bit of luck & some rain), and had a great time instructing all weekend. After thinking about it for a while, it hit me how much this hobby has come to mean to me & how much enjoyment it has brought me over the last few years.
The members of this board have been a very big part of that. From providing advice to just providing a bit of humor, this "community" has helped to make the whole thing more enjoyable and a bit easier as well.
With that thought in mind, I wanted to take a minute and thank a few folks who have really helped me out over the last few years:
Past Instructors
Karl Shultz - One of the best all around instructors I've had - I hope you take a fews spins in student's cars while you take a break from racing.
Diane - Again a great instructor - I still hear your voice saying "bend the car into the turn" whenever I am working on smoothness - also wins top "cuteness" honors for instructors (Sorry Karl).
Will Harris - For being the first instructor to really push me to go faster and test my own limits.
Technical Support
A team award - Steve Sakai & Jack Harris - Both have gone out of there way to help and provide advice on numerous occasions.
Eric Rosen - For generous use of his now-defunct shop
Sportsmanship
Warren - For providing a ton of set-up advice to a future competitor. Admittedly a slow future competitor in another class - but it's still nice.
There are too many others to list them all, but I do appreciate the folks in this community. It is a big part of why I am so compulsive about this hobby. Thank you!

Phil, I never got to congratulate you on getting your license, so congrats! Glad to have been a part of it in some small way.
I remember seeing your car and meeting you. When I found out you'd bumped yourself *down* a class in the HPDE because you were trying out some new equipment, I knew I had a guy with his head screwed on right.

Nice job, Phil!
And here I thought you were too broke to start racing this year... Then again, I thought I was too broke for a rollbar and seats, but I'll be buying Zyg's bar and have a pair of Sparco Pro2000s sitting in my garage...
Once again, congratulations.

Thanks for the comments all. sscguy - I am too broke to go racing this year
! But I wanted to get the license stuff out of the way. I will race enough times this year to convert my provisional license to a "full" license, but will be instructing outside of that. In fact, I will be instructing at Lowes in a few weeks. Heading down?

Thanks Phil. Great students make it easy to be a good instructor. You were a blast to ride along with. As to the other comment... thanks *blush*.
Look forward to seeing you out there with the other HC guys.

You've come a long way since the quick paced off-ramp going to the Battle of the Imports in 1999
(I still remember that, then being shocked to see the R motor under the hood later in the day). Best of luck with the racing and Phil, and if you need any help at the track and you see me around, just give me a hollar
