Default Went to the Track to see what i could do 1/4 mile

i went to the track yesterday and it wasnt good my 1/4mile times were shitty
the best i did was 14.7 with my 60ft 2.7
all my 60ft were like 2.6 to 2.7
droped a 6k with 20psi in the tires
got five runs in till i left
but im running almost bold SO3's
i need some new tires and was wondering what people recomend.
Before my hytech setup i ran a 14.2 with a 1.8 60ft when i had 179whp and thats with sorry kumo ects tires.
now i have 194whp and cant even hit low 14 or mid 14 kinda ambarising so i left.

My thoughts exactly. Alot of guys struggle for 1.8's with slicks. Are you sure of your 2.7 60' as well? That bad of a 60' is almost not possible. Once at the track I went around the water box (as always), but they had sprayed to much and there was a little stream running out to the side, which I of course drove through without noticing. Launched at my usual 5-7k and spun to redline in first and second gear and still managed a 2.6. A 2.7 would almost mean something would have had to break.

Also what was your trap speed?

Not sure I believe your 1.8 either but... those S03s are practically cheater slicks... if they were in their prime then... I dunno. Maybe your bald tires really suck bad. I've heard that Advan AO38s go from godly to **** in about 1000miles so...

Why would he LIE about his times? I mean what good would that do him?

14.7? Sounds like you can't hook for anything. I am sure it's the tires if you say they are bald and you have increased the hp.

As for the Tire suggestion? Well I hve limited experience with tires but I have to say that I do like Falken AZENIS. They seem to have very good Dry weather adhesion and I can't complain in the rain either. But I imagine that you might lookfor a Different characteristic than a road racer like myself.

1.8 60 foott?? There is no way.

2.7 60 foot? That has to be almost impossible.

I got consistent 2.3's and I didn't think I could launch any worse (spinning tires, bogging, hopping, you name it).

dont dump the clutch at 6K, you are just gonna smoke the tires. you gotta feather it some. thats actually a decent time for a crappy 60ft lol

and I also find it hard to believe you got a 1.8 60ft without slicks

A 2500lb car with 194whp should be doing mid 13second 1/4 mile runs right?

Sounds about right with that trap speed and short time, Im sure you can squeeze a high 13 with good launch and good traction.

For reference I ran a 14.7@96 in my R with a filter and a 2.3 60.

every now and then i've seen track thow errors.. that could be what happend.. maybe a rabbit jumped in front or something.. i've had 1.5ft with 175whp once.. of course.. its unlikely i really did that.. had to be an error..

unless you ran that few times and consistantly

Nah, I launch at 7000 and get consistent 2.1 - 2.2

On what tires? Do you drop or feather out the clutch? Man on my kuhmo 712's if i drop the clutch at around 4-5k i spin them for a good 5 seconds.

after spending countless nights at the track, his reaction time is apart of this as well. how deep he staged is another big part. As soon as your tires leave the stage sensor your time begins. You want to stage as far away from the tree as possible while still impeding the stage sensor. It's about an 1 inch or 1.5 inch of area that you can stage in. When your car lauches you can be in a complete stand still spinning tires on the intial pop of the clutch for fractions of a second b4 you creep past the sensor. In that time you can lose or gain .3 or even .3 seconds on your 60ft time. That can sometimes lead to really good 60ft. times or really bad times.

minor things like that are what makes pros what they are. Drag racing is all about timing. God knows I'm no pro but I understand the basics I just have no coordination.

I launch as high as 7,000rpm on true street tires (Potenzas) and have pulled two 2.0 60' and many 2.1's. Riding the clutch is your friend.

What I'm saying is that with a 2.7 60' and assuming you trapped 97mph (I'll go with the highest you listed) a 14.7 would be incredible. Like I said before the only way you are going to get such a 60' is if something went wrong or you had water on your tires. On my watery 2.6 60' run I was still trapping in the high 90's and just the 60' alone knocked me to a 15.3. Probably just a fluke with the track sensors.

Azenis suck for drag racing.. Ive run them and I get mad wheel hop.. i even have an lsd and motormount inserts.. Id say dont drag race on street tires. Buy some bfg g force drag radials or some 15 inch slicks.. You should easily hit some 13s with that setup.. i ran 14.2 on bfgs with 185whp full interior gsr.. Got 14.6 on azenis.. 2700ft.

Azenis don't suck for dragging. They might not be ideal, but I pull consistent 2.1-2.2 60' times on them.
