Default I'M OUT

Following the lead of a fellow NYC ITR (former) owner, I've decided to leave the ITR scene.

Once the ITR comes back from the shop it'll be on the selling block.

Replacing the ITR in my garage is a '93 Mazda RX-7 twin turbo.

Of course I'll be sticking around here until the RX-7 consumes the best of me.

I was thinking of selling myself. The whole "scene" is annoying, but after having the last Type R meeting, bunch of Type R's running up the Taconic, great cookout, fun people, etc. I decided to keep the car.

*sigh*

I don't want to be isolated in this cold city...but wish you good luck with your RX-7. It's a great car, hope its previous owner didn't beat the crap out of it. Anyhow, I'll be still in this "scene" although the car is really impractical to drive in NYC. Till the Evo 7 or RSX-R is out, I will have to keep my edge on my childhood dream car.

Enjoy the RX-7 for it truly is a great automobile. Oh I hope that you know of a great mechanice that knows that car inside and out. I almost bought one until the mechanice I knew moved to California to start racing his 3rd generation RX-7.

All in all good luck

Good call David Don't sell your car yet....cuz we haven't go to next year ITR Expo. RX-7 is a good car too but it just hard to maintain it if compare to our car.

It a sad thing to hear ppl need to sell their ITR because of theives problem

wow, i've driven an rx7 and it was a fantastic car and i loved it... but one of the reasons i bought an itr was because of it's assured reliablilty, which i cannot claim for the rx7. i actually know someone who bought an itr as a daily driver because his rx7 was always broken.... i hope you know what you're getting yourself into! :D

A Supra TT is a worthy replacement for an ITR but I'd never go from the B series marvel, to the leaky, seal blowing, outdated Wankel reliability nightmare that resides in the engine bay of the RX7 TT. Sorry, dude, I can't agree with your choice. But good luck either way.

I currently own a 93 RX-7 R-1 and all I can say is that the car is CRAP. Nothing compared to the TYPE R, no way what so ever, keep the R dont kick yourself later when you find out the RX-7 is a aluminum beer can on wheels.

My 2 cents

Whatever your choice is, I suggest you take it to RPM NYC for a check up and ask for some advice from RX7 forums.
Or go to Eastern, not that they are good or anything. But their boss owns a gold RX-7, so I think he have lots of experience with it. Claws have several RX7 under its wings...but asking without buying will get you some Evil eyes...
Anyway, next time when you drive on NYC highways, please don't pick on a tiny NA PY ITR with Mugen stickers.

OMG Please tell me that your not talking about RPM Motorsports?
They have a branch up here in Brighton and i know there is another in the NYC area, the word is that they are one of the most crooked companies around. I have heard stories from that they sell stolen parts to that they sell knock off parts that look like the real stuff.
IMO I wouldnt go there

A Supra tt is a good replacement? My ***.That car is a tank.It doesn't even slightly inspire driver confidence like the ITR.It a sick car to drag race with but that is it.i love the third gen rx-7 it handles well and is nimble.Just don't fall into the trap like all of the owners of that car.If you get boost happy with it that car will do nothing but let you down

If it relieves you ITR buffs any, my bro will be buying the ITR. However, I still have to teach him how to drive stick. Shouldn't be a problem though, he knows how to ride rice rockets so it should come pretty natural.

Whether I would still drive the ITR around enough to be considered "mine" is another question.

I think the G3 RX-7 falls under the super stock class in Solo II, yes?

I'll be taking the RX-7 to Rampage, they have a sick RX-7 tuner there.

Neo- if you see a black RX-7 pulling up next to you at a light and hear a blow off valve, be prepared. Hehe.

Hey mike...is that true? If it is, it's a shame. Cuz I don't know who else I can take my car to do some serious tuning. New York SUCKS! BTW, I am gonna buy some header and filters off you, can you do the job for me? I don't mind driving to Boston, it's better than driving back from a NYC shop with GSR engine in it.

But....they did build a PY ITR for Speedvision World Challenge, you know, the "Race for Children with Asthma" one. They did a pretty good job on that race-prepared ITR. Not as well build as the RTR teams though.

RedBlue: Yeah!... I'll be ready to make a right turn once the light hits green, come after me for some twisties if you wanna show me some "FD" Initial D style.

It's that part I look forward to. Get a car that breaks down a lot so I have an excuse to tear it down, figure out the prob and fix it. Of course a Ford Pinto or a Chevy Chevette is a better choice for break downs but all of those have been broken.

My beater's a Mazda 929 and that thing has loads of problem at 60k, I expect the same from the rex.

How come everyone wants to get rid of their ITR? This car has more character than any other car out there under 30K! I don't know; maybe I've just been a junkie too long, but I think this is one of the greatest cars out there...hands down. I hate to see another one go.
