This is my car in the background with me in my blue shirt. This is the way it looked all day: with the hood up.

[edit] This is the car of the guy who is associated with the guy who [/edit] tried to steal my ratchet, 14mm socket and extension. That really pisses me off. That completely fkuced up my day. At least I semi-expected my engine blowing, but I would never expect some older Oriental guy to try and lift my tools. A$$hole.

Why did your car sit all day?

You should have told someone that he tried to take your tools ,This ain't drag racing at Cayuga there is no place for that.

Do you know Bill the guy with the gold Volks? What happened to his front wheel?

Well, I just scream and yell when nobody's around. Then steal them back when nobody's around. You don't know how tempted I was to punititively steal something from him while I was there. I guess I'm just too honest. Do people do stuff like that drag racing at Cayuga? I knew there was a reason why I don't go to drag events. At a Solo I weekend I can leave anything of mine in front of anyone and never even think about it. Timing guns, pyrometers, tools and tools and tools. Never a worry. That's why I was so bothered.

My car sat all day because I broke my engine. Most people think it's a rod bearing. Oh well.

Bill had an off road experience in the double apex (4a-b?). That was very suck. It could have been much worse of course as the WRX demonstrated. I was just surprised that the person(s) in the car were okay. I don't think I saw the person wearing a helmet when he got out.

Well you should really tell someone next time as I've never heard that happen before. The guy who owns that blue civic is like only 22 years old are you sure it was him?

Your motor broke on the track? Isn't it still under warrenty?

WRX lost in the double apex and landed on its side around 4:00, both drivers were ok (they got out by them seleves) the car had minimal damage broken drivers side glass and flat tire. Very strong car. CAA came and towed it away.
I have no idea what kit this is

I guess it wasn't the owner then. The guy who did it was much older. Maybe his dad? He was working on the Civic, so I assume they must be pretty close. Hrmph. Anyone else know who I'm talking about?

Warranty expired 160000kms ago. Oh well.

That event was the worst excuse for a lapping day I have ever attended! Poorly run, no safety precautions whatsoever. I'm really surprised someone didn't get hurt, either on the track or in the pits.

Everytime the 'organizer' came through the very narrow pit lane, he was doing at least 60 kph. That's ridiculous, especially when people are on both sides of the pit lane!

I guarantee you that will be the last time I ever attend one of those events run by that person.

By plugging hadamotorsports at the end of your review it looks bad for hada as it looks like you are just posting to promote hada.

I guess you're right about that, but that certainly wasn't my intention as I'm only speaking for myself. I've been to many lapping events over the last 10 years that were held by other clubs, and almost every single one of them was well run and enjoyable for all. For instance the MR2 club had an awesome event last week that I would highly recommend to anyone for future consideration.

I don't think that looks bad at all. That's his sig. It's on all his posts. He's not trash talking the lapping day to promote HADA if that's what you're saying. It really was poorly organized and dangerous. There was:
a) no insurance
b) [edit - my bad... there WAS a wonderful ambulance]
c) no mandatory helmets
d) one flagging station with no marshalls on course
e) passing allowed anywhere
f) no rules on signalling for passing or pulling into pits
e) miscelaneous other things, like the promoter speeding in the pits and being generally uncourteous
I could possibly understand missing a couple of those things if it was a private lapping event where everybody knows and trusts everyone, but this was heavily promoted to anyone and everyone. There were a lot of idiots out there who thought they were racing F1 cars or something. Generally the event seemed like a bunch of grade 10 kids on their first school trip to Quebec.

I guess the crowd there is used to that type of event, but Alec and I won't attend one of them again. His post was not to promote HADA, they are completely different types of events.

The ambulance was there

Helmets aren't required by Shannonville for "lapping events"

B18C5
Caius knows how the lapping event that you attended are run why didn't you just ask him ,he doesn't like to go to them (and he is a great driver) why did you ?It wouldn't have have been such a big suprise when a car passed you in the corner.
Seems like you over react real easily (posting pictures of people you "think" stole your tools).

Oh god...

I was wrong about the ambulance.

Unfortunately I didn't ask Caius about how the lapping day was going to be.

Helmets might not be required, but not requiring them for a lapping day is plain stupid. Who's going to be responsible if someone ***** themselves up? It is stupid to allow passing when you've got a bunch of ******* idiots out there mixing with beginners. At least have an advanced and beginner group.

My tools? I was walking back to my car after helping rainman do some stuff. I saw some older Oriental guy walking back from my **** with something in his hand. I could hear the beautiful friendly girls saying "he's right there..." while that guy was walking back. I assumed he was borrowing it. I watched him put it into his jack box. He was working on THAT Civic. I went through my box looking for my tools. I have a Mastercraft Professional metric socket set. Everything was there except for my ratchet, extension and 14mm socket. When the WRX rolled over I went into that guy's jack box and picked up a Mastercraft Professional ratchet, a Mastercraft Professional extension and a Mastercraft Professional 14 mm socket, all still together.

Yeah, you must be right... I just "thought" he stole it! I just "thought" he was working on the Civic. I just "thought" I found the socket inside his jack box.

I'm overreacting?

I think one of the points trying to be made here is that this was not a lapping event as it was billed - more of a free for all. That's fine if you're on the track with people you know and trust, but when you mix in drivers with varying degrees of ability on a track, certain precautions must be taken in order to maintain a level of safety.

I understand that some people think that wearing helmet at the track isn't necessary. Well that's fine as natural selection will take its course in due time. But I think it is the organizer's responsibility to ensure as safe a lapping environment as possible. Quite frankly there are a lot of opportunities for legal action against anyone running an unsafe event. If someone really thinks that they are covered by having all attendees sign a waiver, they are fooling themselves.

Yeah you are over reacting when you post a pic of someone's car and tell everyone that the owner stole your tools even though you weren't SURE HE took them.If I didn't come on and say the owner isn't that old everyone will look at his car and think the guy is an theif because of the actions of someone around him.

Don't call people who pass you a bunch of grade 10's (why are grade 10's passing you???)

Next time ask Caius before straying from solo as he will tell you wisely where to and where not to go to have safe & fun driving. Maybe you should check out his site http://www.caiusworld.com/

B18C5 never did suggest that he got passed by grade 10's. He was making reference to the fact that there were a lot of immature drivers out there. I have to admit there were a few really cooperative, level-headed guys lapping that I would have no problem with at any other event and would definitely have time for. But when there are no rules, then you're asking for trouble on the track.

As far as 'thinking' this guy stole something, there was no question (not the driver of that car, the guy associated with him). I myself saw the tool in his tool box. How the hell did it get there?? Beyond B18C5, I think the girls watching the whole episode know.

My bad. Regardless, birds of a feather...

What I'm trying to say is they were acting like how kids act when they get away from their parents. Totally out of control with no regard for their or other people's safety!

Yes. Caius is very wise.
