Insulate the Intake?
I know I'll lose the shiny chromeness, but since the intake gets so hot, wouldn't it make sense to use insulation and wrap the thing? I'm thinking to use that heat wrap that goes around headers and wrap up the intake inside the engine bay. What do you think? Even if cold air is coming in the filter, going through that hot tube can't be good.... or does it matter?
You want the stuff they wrap AC ducts with from home depot...it keeps hot air out, and cold air in....the header wrap does the opposite. It works very nicely from all reports I have heard, and I've been meaning to do it myself - but alas, other priorities right now. Anyhow, do it is what I say....it seems to be all the rage in the JDM scene.
is this AC tape the same as the heat reflective tape mentioned above? I do remember seeing that the header tape kept heat inside the header, I thought it was the same thing to keep heat in as keep cold in. oh well. ok good, should be able to pick up some insulation at home depot.
One thing though, would be that making sure the AC insulation is made for high heat areas. How hot would the engine bay get normally? Would it be better to go with some JCwhitney type heat reflective tape?

I have my short intake insulated with stuff for pipes. It helps to avoid heating all the intake pipe. And makes my intake a little bit more quiet.
