scatter sheild?
Here's some big issues we find when installing them.
!) Fit
On some of these, we find the sheild doesn't fit flush against the tranny. We had to do some grinding.
2) clearance
We had to cut and grind a little to clear oil pan bolts, tranny case webbing, thermostat housing, etc.
3) THIS IS THE BIG ONE!!!!!..... SHORT TRANNY BOLTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The tranny-to-engineblock bolts go throught the sheild tabs which are 18" to 1/4" thick. This may not sound like much, but now the bolts engage less of the block threads.
I've seen a LOT of block threads get stripped out. Do yourself a favor, and check the available thread depth.
We use longer bolts (available at local auto parts store). It was cheap insurance.

FYI- the deist scatter shield fitment SUCKS!!!!!!!
Also the straps that hold it on are not even long enough to stap it in. Just ask anyone who has them and they will say the fitment is really poor.
IMO for the price its sad deist didn't do their homework and make a better unit. Heck you even have to open up the hole in the metal tabs that hold the pins in since the cranny bolts are A LOT larger. Oh yeah and plan in doing some sewing or something to extend the straps so that you can strap in down. Oh yeah plus the fitment it even worse with the clutch slave bracket.
Go with a metal scatter shield like the GE, STR, etc... the deist is cool, however save a ton of time in having to mess with fitment and custom making stuff for it.

As I said we have used both types of scattershields and I personally like the deist unit. When we installed the deist we had no problems with alignment or fitment it went on without a hitch. The other types of sheilds work just as well but my personal preffrence is the deist unit.

Ever see a flywheel break apart? It goes through the tranny case like a knife through hot butter, which, will continuet to travel through your hood, firewall, foot, face, etc. get the hint? For the record, when a flywheel brakes apart, its a scary sight. Could be disasterous

. Not a pretty site to see. BTW, does this happens often or is it due to manufactor defect or installation?
