help my car has problems starting
today it was a pretty hot day, and i drove around from school and back about 20 mins and went to a friends house left my car outside in the sweldering heat for about 3 hours, as i started my car it cranked up but didnt start, second time it cranked started and died and for 3 more times it happened. I wanna know whats up? anyone have any ideas i already did a search on car starting problems and found nothing i was looking for. My car is 93 del sol 150,000 miles just changed oil, my friend told me it could be my spark plugs.
where can i get that? and how much will it cost? is it easy to install? thanks for the feedback though sorry about all the questions im just worried
It is located kinda behind the fuse box on the driver's side right hand side. It is a reddish box, I think it is a 12mm bolt that holds it in place.
I would recommend you get a main relay or PGMFI relay from Honda. it's probably gonna cost you about $40-$50. Go to Honda explain the problem to them and if they tell you its the main relay, that's the part you want.
I hear someone on the board say that if they have problems starting giving it a tap will fire up the car. But only do that until you get a replacement.

are you sure its the main relay?
today i drove it to school, but when i started the car to drive home it died and then it cranked up but no start, then the third time the idle was really lower than usual.
If its the main relay does that mean it will start but not when its hot

I believe the car will not start when it gets hot because the relay heats up and isn't able to make contact to engage the fuel pump. When the car is not able to start, when you turn the key on do you hear the fuel pump prime? If it does not it is probably the main relay.
I doubt if it is your fuel filter. Even if the filter if clogged you will still be able to hear the fuel pump prime the system.
Like I said before go to Honda and explain the symptoms and see what they say, chances are they will tell you its the relay. The problem seems to only come up during summer.
Let me know what you find out.

Yes they will charge you. ALOT at that... more then the cost of a Main Relay.
dood, totally.. just try it. If thats not it, take it back, then save some $$ to take your car to honda if you want to.
Honda-tech has alot of people who know their stuff, take the advise your given first. If that don't work, then find other means of getting it fixed. (Even if it does mean getting raped by honda mechanic prices)
my $.02

I think you misunderstood what I suggested, but rather go to the parts counter and see if the person behind the desk knows what they are talking about tell them your symptoms, they might be able to point you in the right direction. Or alternatively you can go ask one of the service advisors, they usually know what they're talking about. I have done that many times and they have always been happy to help, without costing me anything.. and most of the time they were spot on in their diagnosing the problem.

Just go to the Honda dealership and get the OEM part. Pretty sure its the only place you are going to find it.
Have you located the relay yet? If so taking it out is self explanatory. It's a little box shaped relay with a harness plugged into it. It is bolted to the car with a single (1) 10mm bolt. It is located by your fuse panel inside the car, right above the hood pop latch, under the dash area. Easy to access, unplug, unbolt and replace.

make sure you DO NOT hear the pump priming... because that's how you tell if it's actually the main relay...
others have been complaining of this problem and MANY of them have NO priming issues...
here's a thread on it...
