Car insurance question, -State farm insurance
Does anyone here know about State Farm if they write a check or do they assign you to a body shop? Someone pulled out infront of me (they were at fault) and messed up my car pretty bad.. it looks like it needs a new fender, new bumper, new hood, new headlight, and lots of labor ! My car isn't worth much and I was actually going to sell it pretty soon, fixing it up would just be a waste of money... how does it work?
most insurance companies don't cut checks like that anymore. Usually they wright them directly to insurance company.
Yuo should have the option to use any insurance company that you want.

actually state farm cuts you a check and u can take it to whatever body shop you want,
however they are counting on u not taking it to a body shop to fix it so they will write you a check under what it would cost to actually get it fixed and then they will tell you if its not enough money have the body shop you take it to contact us and we will cover whatever is left.
ive totalled 2 cars with state farm.

Well even though this has nothing to do with State Farm when I got backed into (school parking lot going slow) They cut me the check. I had to take it to a couple of body shops that they approve of but anyway where the girl hit me was on the door and rear quarter so when I took it to the shop they told me I was looking at around $3000 worth of work so the insurance company totalled out my car. I could have taken $2100 and gave them my car or $1700 and kept my car well I took the $1700 since I only paid $1400 for it and also it was still driveable and sicne I never turned over my title it was still a clean title!!

Thats what happened with a friend of mine. She had her front bumper, hood, lights, radiator supports/radiator replaced withthe $ they gave her. But she also had flats on her tires from sliding so she got new tires and sent them the bill. From what I've heard state farm is pretty good, they were the lowest out of about 4 I checked out, and I know 2 other people that use them. Most others have their mommys insurance.
