Body Shop Questions!!!
Ok, well about 2 weeks ago I had my car hit by
a van in the front of the vehicle causing damage to
the hood, radiator support, and fender. I had
a check cut out directly to me for $1300.00.
I knew the place that I wanted to send my car to, so
I brought the vehicle to the body shop with the check
and they did a supplement.
The supplement came to a total of $4400.00, because
of some more damage that was not visible.
Now, I know that I could find parts for my vehicle
for $2400.00, and the labor is about $2000.00, but
the body shop is telling me that insurance is only paying
for $800.00 in parts, and the rest is labor. ???
Does insurance companies cut direct checks for
the supplement to the body shop, or does the body
shop have a limit on what they could use the money for?
Would I be able to direct the body shop in what I want
done?
Could I pull my car from the body shop?
What are my rights, if I feel like I'm being screwed?
TIA,
kevin

Re: Body Shop Questions!!! (StealthGPDB8)
well, i know someone who had a check cut to him for repairs. he provided estimates and that is what they based the amount on. he then fixed it himself. but when i was in a wreck the insured's company wrote a check to the body shop. they did not match the paint so i made them do it again and match it. they gave me a little bit of hell but i wanted it perfect, and ended up getting it perfect. there were no mechanical problems on mine though. not sure if this will help you.
