Default A Case of Transmission Mis-identity...

So I bought a used transmission (from someone on this site) The tranny was supposedly a jdm h22 transmission, but the kid wasnt sure, and the bar label w/ the tranny code was torn off (stolen?? I dunno?) So anyways, I get the transmission installed, and it is def. not an h22 tranny, the acceleration is very sluggish, I THINK its an f22 tranny, but not sure, does 2700 rpm's at 70mph sound right for f22 tranny ??

All I know is this acceleration sucks, I want my h22 tranny back

John, he said he wanted an H22 tranny. He probably doesn't want a non-working H23 tranny. In fact, probably nobody wants that.

Hmm, so some guy took a transmission out of his car because it had a "slight" grind. And exactly how do you know it works?

Umm, what are you guys talking about... I took out my stock h22 tranny because 2nd, 3rd, and 5th gear syncrhos were fucked, and I completely trashed the 5th/rev gear pack. buying a used tranny for 400 bucks was a lot cheaper than rebuilding or buying a remanned one.....

the One I got works fine, the guy told me he bought the jdm motor swap for his h23 prelude, and was going to keep the h23 tranny so he didnt need the jdm h22 one(which really turns out to be an f22 tranny)

not to change the subject or anything but... does anyone know if the s2000 tranny is interchangable with an h22 h23 motor. i knownothing about s2k's but the fact that it is a 6spd and that to me is more apealing than a lude 5spd.

here's the quick way when buying a used transmission that doesn't have the label to identify them from what car it came from. on the clutch case where fork boot is at outside there is a stamp number only the H22 transmission will have the P16 stamped on the case non H22's such as H23,F22 will have the PX5 stamped on them. so if there's a person selling an H22 JDM/USDM tranny make sure it's a P16 clutch case (bellhousing). here's the H22 stamp

and the f22,h23

prolly a f22....... i put one in my car to help out with launching... the taller gears make it a lot quicker........(if you have the power to pull the gear!!! otherwise you're slower than hell!!!!!!) but yeah 70 at 3000 sounds about right, its way up there

you think so? I think my acc. is a lot slower, not as noticable in 1st and 2nd, but it starts catching up. As for power... I make 212 to the ground, dunno if you turbo boys consider that powerful or not...

Who is John and what type of non-working tranny does he have. I am looking for one to build a custom transmission.
