Default would it be okay to change tranny fluid w/ only 2 jack stands?

I only have 2 jack stands but I hear that the car needs to be level..... is that for filling or draining purposes? because if its for filling technically 2 jack stands would suffice..

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=92240 in this thread tommy_gunn says, "There is an easier way to change your tranny fluid. Get a very long funnel or a hose to attach whatever funnel you have. Remove the intake hose (to get access to the fill plug) and you should be able to fill the tranny fluid from above the engine bay. Simple and a much quicker way than using the pump."

okay so based on how I interpreted that above.. hes saying to take off the rubber intake arm and I should find a fill plug?

let me know guys.. i wanna change my tranny fluid

I beleave he is reffering to removing the speed sensor and filling through the hole. That is on the back of the tranny.

You could always put the two stands on, and when you are ready to fill use the jack to raise the rear so the car is level.

Kendogg...

The fill hole is abot 6 inches above the drain hole, right next to the axle, its a 17mm.

Remember that the way to be sure you are at the proper level is that the fluid is just below the fill hole (about to spill out) and this makes it kinda important that the car be level.

I fill the tranny with a funnel and rubber hose into that hole from the top, but remember you must still be able to put the plug back in.

I know it may not be the SAFEST, but it may be OK.. Use the stands for the front, and just use the jack for the rear (If the rear falls, there will be plenty of room under the front still, with the stands in place)

would this work?...jack up passenger side, take off passenger wheel, then lower the car back to level with out the wheel on,and change fluid from there...ive been putting this off as well cause of only having 2 jack stands and my scissor jack...opinions

well when you drain it, you don't want one side to be higher than the other (i.e. passenger side raised and driver side not). You can probably drain it alright w/ 2 jackstands in front, but for filling the car needs to be level. When I changed my clutch, I filled the tranny w/ only the front of the car raised. Later I added more with the car level, and I was able to get almost another 1/2 quart in there.

But just go buy 2 more stands, the ones I use are only about $12/pair from AutoZone, and they work great.

pick up another pair of jack stand about $25 for a pair of 3 ton stands or use the cheap way like I have, cynder blocks. they're cheap & they're stong.

cinder blocks are bad.....they can break pretty easy when the weight is distributed in ways that the block wasn't designed for...
