compression check
Well I ran a compression check yesterday to see if my rings seated right. I am going through an awful lot of oil so we wanted to look at the possibilty of improperly seated rings. HEre are the numbers: cyl #1=180 cyl #2=180 cyl #3=180 cyl#4=180. It appears they have all seated correctly. My friend told me that because I burnt my cat it is creating tons of back pressure and that back pressure is creating alot of blow by therefore causing the oil consumption. Does that make sense? Or does it sound like BS?
blow-by is what you get when the rings wear and let oil into the combustion chamber. also, make sure your doing the compression test correctly. pull the fuse for the fuel pump and hold it at WOT, you should get higher more accurate readings. if the cat is clogged replace it and see what happens.
