What you are talking about is pasive rear stearing, and yes the 88 model CRXs have it. I love it, but if you modify it, you have to make sure what you are getting is for the 88. I dont know if you can use stock or aftermarket ITR stuff on the rear of our cars or not. I think, if you want to, you can replace the LCA and shocks and whatnot, with 89-91.

Yes you can use ITR rear shocks and also the LCAs are identical.

If you don't like the 88 rear LCAs, you can replace them with the 89-91 LCAs, but don't forget to get new shocks as well...

I think the negative press about the 88 suspension came from problems that the average Joe was having with the car feeling twitchy. When I was hunting for a road race car, I specifically wanted the 88 because of the rear suspension. I wouldn't change it for anything, including the rear drums

aye the twitchyness grows on you
so its confirmed I can go with the rear ITR shocks
has anyone done this, changed to the rear ITR shocks and does anyone know of any adjustable ones

but yes, I too would not give up my 88 rear suspension

The shocks are exactly the same from rear 88 CRX to rear ITR shocks...

i can confirm that they are also used on the jdm SiR w/ rear discs. i can also confirm that 89-91 LCAs are a direct replacement.

Yup, in fact all 88 Civic's and CRX's have the ITR style rear LCA. And yes as someone stated, the reason they were ditched after 88 was because the average consumer didn't like the way it felt (too "twitchy" and stiff) I personally wouldn't change it to 89-91 style and don't plan to ever do that to my 88.

Having built an SCCA ITA CRX Si, '88 CRXs are the most desireable cars because of low weight and the rear suspension. Changing the LCA doesn't affect handling; it's the geometry of the upper control arm movement that makes the difference. If you change over to the '89-91 style LCA, you'll still feel the same 'twitchiness'. You merely open your options to more shock interchangeability.
