Default anyone ever have any problems with the apc short shifter?

i want a short shifter for my civic but i don't have $100+ to blow on a dc sports or skunk 2 short shifter. so i've been looking as those pep boys apc short shifters which is $29.99 at pep boys and $13.99 plus shipping on ebay. i mean, how bad could it be? its pretty much just a piece of metal.

yeah kinda all the same there is better material in the skunk and dc and probably a shorter throw but the cheaper one should work fine. but i have heard fo some people snapping the cheap ones in half so watch out.

I wouldn't, i'm not just saying that because its apc, but a friend of mine had one and for no reason the top broke off where the threading is for the shift ****. I would however recommend the JG short shifter, thats the one my friend got afterward and its dope trust me. He ordered his from Checker/Shucks/Kragen, they have a catalog. It was 50-70 bucks if i remember right. Don't quote me too close on that price but it was well under $100.

so...the cheaper shifter should be ok? i don't slam my shifter when i shift so i don't think it will snap.

i have an ebay shifter. no problems, shorter throw, easy install. For 15 bucks it can't be beat. It has been on for about 3 or 4 months and it has easily been worth the money.

Don't buy it! And I AM just saying that because it is an APC part.

APC PARTS SUCK!

It doesn't matter what it is, if APC makes it you can bet that it WILL NOT work properly. I agree with what some of the other guys were saying, a short shift won't make you faster. Save you money for a while then buy a quality upgrade. Besides even if it is just a "piece of metal" then I still wouldn't buy it on principle.

Don't mean to vent, but I can't stand APC and there cheap **** parts.

Speaking with first hand experience, APC products in general, especially their short shifters, are crap. I installed one on a CRX and it snapped in about 4-5 months. 5 months, $20, and easy install job, you decide if you must have that extra bling in your interior.

ill be honest with you, i had my apc one on my civic for about a year and a half until it decided to break. it happened to break right below the threads. i just put on one of those aftermarket shift ***** that you screw on with the allen keys. its been working fine for me, and now i have a much shorter shifter, and much shorter throw.
