What type of times should I expect from a Stock crxsi??
I would like to know what type of times to expect from a stock CRX 1988 SI with only a air intake, and 15 inch stock crx wheels. The car has 145,000 miles on it. So far I only have a feel of the pants estimate. It feels like at least 16.5 or so but I dont know alot about CRXs. Thanks
well depends on what kinda times............1/4 mile would be somewhere between a 15.0-16.5 (15.0 obviously being a stripped car,at negative 1000ft elevation, with you buck *** naked running from the cops)

eh?
16.1-.5 sounds accurate if you know how to drive. 105hp can only do so much...

man, i consider myself a decient driver and with the my crx si, I/H/E i was only able to squeek out a 16.78 with 2.3 60' . maybe i had a tired engine, there were about 160k miles on it when i ran her at richmond

{Mid 10's. I also could have swore stock wheels were 14's..}.

Actually your right about the wheels I checked them and there 14's on 185 tires. Thanks for the response. I just bought the car for 1500.00 and the car really runs strong. I am planning on running the car completly stock at the track. I want to see how it performs before doing any upgrades at all.

probably 20 seconds if your so ricer you have to care anyway
Try doing some maintenace, go to the track and practice. Do your self a favor, know that if you really want straight line speed your shooting yourself in the foot with a FWD. However the CRX makes an excellent cone carver or for the Toegay

i ran 15.5@87.6 when my crx si was stock. the motor had 168,000 miles on it and a masive oil leak which eventually lead to me spinning a rod bearing and getting the b16

Must be a typo. LOL
NO 2G CRX EVER came stock with 15's they were usually 13's. Hf's had 13 in steelies. 13 or could've been 14 in. steelies on DX's and Si's 14 in. alloys.

YEah true its a great Canyon carver but the part about straight line accelaration and shooting yourself in the foot is a far stretch! Try telling that to Bisi or Ed Bergenholtz. LOL

i am curious to know this too, as well as see some slips for that 15.5 sec pass. im not calling you out but i know what a challenge it is to get a car that isn't making over 100 to the wheels (i am assuming even with your mods you were still in the 90's) to make a pass that quickly. but if its true...
i threw those numbers on to a converter http://www.angelfire.com/fl/pr....html and it looks like to get a trap speed of 87.6mph you would need about a 1500 lb car with you in it given the stock whp of a crx si is 93. those converters can be misleading though, just something to think about
You are running a 13 year old car you just bought... w/ no work done.... ummmmm
you'll probably run a 16.SLOW. Try a B16!
Also for that dude who said your shooting yourself in the foot w/ FWD.... My CRX is a great drag car (allthough I don't drag) because it is LITE! I ran a 15.6 7 years ago w/ bolt ons on my D16 (that was fast then
). Then came the B16 w/ bolt ons.
I ADMIT that RWD is def a better choice for traction, BUT in $ to $ comparison I could build a CRX that is in mid 13's for 10k.... what other car could you achieve that with?

well you could very easily build a 700hp 350 for about $2500, buy a Vega for $500, and crush your 10,000 dollar car

i ran a 15.4 with a almost stock si motor w/ 150k miles on it in my full interior 88 dx. i ran 14.7 on a 40 shot only spraying in 2nd and 3rd because the nos wasn't fully tuned. also i have a terrible clutch and tranny and i was running 13" pizza cutters. if i had a scanner i would show you guys the slips. i'm shooting for 13's with a 60 shot new slicks, clutch and tranny plus my cat eliminating test pipe.

ok maybe not 700hp n/a...but for 2500 you could get a nice 400hp 350 or 383 if you like. Throw it in a68-72 Nova and that would probably beat most swapped civics

with my Si (lowered, intake, exhaust and plug wires) i ran a 16.7 in the rain with the stock wheels on a few months ago... before i crashed it and completely screwed up my life
