Welders, how much were your gas tanks?
I went to a local gas shop today and they wanted about $130 for a 20lb tank and $75 for a regulator
A mechanic at work was telling me how he fitted a fire extinguisher w/ a regulator and he just used that to hold his co2. Has anyone here done anything like that? I wouldn't mind saving some money right now.

my tank cost me $55 filled w/100% argon, but are you gonna use c02?
if you try to go the cheap way then some shops wont fill your tank w/out it being cleaned properly for argon... but if your going to use c02 then you wont have a problem

Where did you buy it for that cheap? How big is it? Now that sounds like a price I want to pay. Same with the other person who responded
I payed like $120 for my 80# bottle filled /w c02/argon mix...
it did not have a regulator, my welder came with that
I got it at the local welding supply.. it is called airgas

My 80# bottle was either 120-140 filled with argon. If you plan to do much welding get two or rent one of the big ones.. When your running tig it goes very fast. Fill ups are $25-30
