It just sounds like that shop isn't willing to put in the work to make it happen for you, but it can be done at least relatively easily from what I heard. I'm saving for the HKS ZC gears though.

Not the Best pic in the World but you get the idea......When you time the motor you have to use the 5mm Dowel pins the B Series Marks will not TDC, if they are you will be 10.5 Degrees out on the Exhaust cam. There is no Shimming involved period....The gears are a tad bit thick for the belt, but thats no big deal. Have any other questions feel free to PM me, I have worked with these motors alot and currently I am running a Built All Motor ZC

Mike

correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe HKS discontinued the ZC gears, and the JUN ones are pieces of ****. (that last part is personal opinion of course)
Last set of JUN gears I saw looked like they had taken a set of rusty, old, stock gears, cut the spokes on them, bolted a plate to the back of it, then added some bolts for adjustability. Total crap looking. Just wasn't impressed at all, especially coming from a "reputable tuner" like JUN. Sorry. Just kind of venting. I was just upset when one of my customers spent their money on something and got some crap like that. Some people may not mind, but I'm just kind of **** about quality of things. It just looked half assed to me.
I have always heard that for the ZC application Jun did just take stock gears & make them adjustable- I just never imagined that they would use a used part.
it makes no sense to get cam gears for zc's they have a sensor on the exhaust
side cam that makes the cam timing perfect just by cams dont waist your money
or time

Um, NO. The ZC isn't a K20 bro. By your logic I could just slap on a t belt & drive away- you still need cam gears to advance/retard the cam timing.

that sensor is there to tell you if the cam timing has jumped a tooth essentially. If the cam timing is off it will throw a CEL to tell you to fix it; you probably do have that sensor- it is a green plug near the front of the valve cover by the dizzy.

So spoon is crap too then if taking the old gears and using them makes it crap....
Its not about how pretty it looks......as long as they dont slip and work...then its a functional part.....

not wider...diff off set so to speak...I compared the two.....same width but when you mount them they sit a tab bit closer to the valve cover......still clear it and all but sit closer...
