Default info on optional tail light garnish for hatch

I got this thing out and tested it out over the weekend.

Here is the voltage reducer that comes with it...

Green wires- output to garnish
Red/Black- +12v
Black- ground

As measured on the old trusty fluke, in order to light this up you only need 710 millivolts. So those of you with out the 'box' for it you need to figure out a way to reduce the voltage down to ~700mv to make it work. Here is what it looks like powered up...

I don't have it on the car yet so no pics of that.

is it a colored bulb that makes it green? If so, have you looked into the difficulty level in changing the color? Just curious- nice find BTW

It's not a traditional light bulb so I don't think you could change it very easily... I'm not going to mess with it.

You didn't know that these are part of the 2F&2F release and you can get them at Auto Zone?

Yeah right, you have to get very lucky to find one of these. You can't just go buy one.

He just happend to find one from a private party in Japan. It's rare even in Japan! Probably the rarest JDM EF hatch part I can think of. Not easy to find, especially in BRAND NEW condition. He didn't get it from some shop that has a **** load of them or that even can order it. If you want one, keeping calling your local JDM junk importer. Or start asking sources in Japan.

Very nice. Here in the UK we have many imported cars from the land of the risen sun. I have never seen any Civics with that garnish but I have seen a few Toyota GT Starlets with similar green glowing tail light sections. From what I can remember they simply say GT. It looks really trick though. Nice one.

I can appreciate that piece because it is very rare, and I know it's expensive, but I could probably make one with a junkyard center garish, some electroluminescent material, wire, and a potentiometer.I know it's JDM,but it does look slightly riced out.It actually does look like you bought it at PepBoyz or wherever. But hey,it's your ride,so do what you think looks good.

Actually I didn't pay that much for it so... For me though it's not about making something look like a certain part, it's the thrill in looking, waiting and finding something like that. I've been into “jdm” parts for over 5 years and not until the last 2 years or so could you just get online or call somebody up and order whatever you want.

Some people are into yellow plug wires, short shifters, aftermarket coils and other stuff that doesn’t do ****, that's what they do. I collect old non-functional over priced jdm parts that don’t do ****.

And yes it does look like I got it at pep boys.

I have the exact same piece (rare Ebay find) but not the resistor. I just have to find a way to step down the voltage from 12V to 700mv as you stated. Thanks for the info bro.

No problem, I hope no one has ever hooked yours up to 12v or it's probably blown.

The wiring side of things looks a lot like what Ive pulled outta my SiR, but it was in the boot rather than behind the lighting panel. Dont have the actual neon piece however

If its a Factory option, even in Japan, most US dealers can have it sent in for a pretty penny. The Nissan dealer I work for always imports Nismo and JDM Nissan stuff for customers; at the customers expense .
