oil return
"This may sound dump but does your oil return have to face straight down towards the ground or can you leave it and the feed line horizontal."
The less restrictions in the turbo drain line the better. Strait down and minimal bends is the best way to go. Not always possbile though.
Just make sure the line does not slope back up after the turbo.
The feed line does not matter it is under pressure.

yeah exactly, since the oil is returned basicly just by gravity, you want to make sure it drains as easily as possible.
