What's the harm in not using this bracket? Stress on the header bolts to the head?
What about other aftermarket headers like toda? Do you use the usdm header bracket or this jdm one?
Minh Give me a call tommorow, to save you some $$$ I can just send it through the post office priority mail and you'll have it Friday
and it wont cost as much as UPS next day air

I just noticed that the Spoon header doesn't have the mount lid with the two holes...... Maybe it's not very important..

Ken - A couple of us (Willard and myself included) have been experiencing a slight rattle at certain load/rpm levels. Due to observed movement in the header down on the collector side, I have this bracket on order. Like others said, peace of mind. The rattle in my car is only noticeable when ac is on and driving the car fairly easy (ie not as much noise). I don't think it is harmful, just annoying.
When you guys install the header bracket make sure you use a longer bolt on the the left hole of the bracket where it connects to the block or you will strip threads. Just wanted to warn you guys since myself and another member on this forum( i think D) stripped the threads in the block with very little force.

correct, the left bolt. If you look at the first picture you posted, you can see that there is a washer/spacer welded to the one hole. The stock USDM bracket does not have this spacer on it. take the stock bolt and put it through the left hole on the usdm bracket and measure how many threads are showing. you should have the same amount of threads showing on JDM bracket with a longer bolt.
ja, can figure out how long of a bolt you need by just using the USDM bracket for reference.
wuz kinda funny when i did it.... i was like... "what the hell???".... barely finger tightened the bolt.. then i was like "DOH!" when i realized why... no biggie, there's enough threads in the block..

I was wondering how essential that piece was.
I removed mine about a month ago. I had the opposite problem with my bracket. It broke at the curved section. At one point, I thought the tubes were rattling against eachother, when in fact, the two severed bracket pieces were vibrating against eachother and making a nasty metallic ring. Had to use the air gun to get that bolt out...it was in there.
Anyway, i guess the fact that mine broke points to the fact that there is apparently some stress in the area. When you get the piece, could you please post a phone # and price of where to get it. I want a new one. Thanks guys.
