Default Can you re-use piston rings?

If the engine has got good compression, no issues with the cylinder walls, and not too bad of miles(80k)...can piston rings be reused?

Goign to swap the pistons in an LS motor, for P30 ones to up compression.

I've seen lots of people talk about doing a ring-job just pulling out the pistons, slapping new ones on, and away you go.

Others say have to hone the cylinders and get new rings.

Which then means I'm pulling the crank out...(can I reuse bearings if ok? what about rod bolts?), stripping down the block, take it to be honed, have it all washed out..

Obviously scenario two is a lot more work, and time invovled, since I don't have a hone and parts washer at home..

What's everyones thoughts?

i would personally replace all the parts mentioned simply because if one of those breaks later down the line you don't have to rip apart the block to replace it.

an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure...

Like said... it'd probobly work w/o but why risk it?

ANYTIME you do the pistons though you should hone the cyl. walls. You "can" re-use rings... it's just not the best idea.

Don't you need to wash out the block after honing? How would you do this in the car? Just spray out the cylinders?

Where is a good source to get:

head bolts
rod bolts
rod bearings
main bearings

for a good price? I've heard summit for the bolts..what about the bearings? I also want to get new main seal and cam seals.

ack..

theres no acuraautomotiveparts.com..theres a acuraautomotiveparts.org linked from that honda page..

OK, so on there, main bearings are 11.22 for one half, 10.19 for the other half, so $21.41 x 5 bearings = $107

Rod bearings 10.16 x 8 = $82

$200 for bearings $150 for rings.. more for rod bolts, etc..

yuck, more money than I want to spend..
