Might as well get the b&m oil cooler, which relocates the filter, t00.

Yup, my boy just installed his, now his filter is right next to the radiator and he doesn't even need to jack the car up anymore to change the oil.....well just a little because he's pretty low.
Also, the b&m is half the price.

I have heard of OVERcooling the oil with the combo of a remote filter and cooler on Hondas. Any truth to that?

Nice thing about the filter relocation kits is that most of them use Mustang (or some other v8) filters which are quite large.

good things: increase oil capacity, cooler oil

but, is there a sigificant pressure drop? also, if the climate is cool, is it even necessary?

Yes, you can over cool the oil. In the case of a front mount oil cooler, you'd want to cover 1/2 the cooler with a piece of cardboard or heavy duty plastic with zip-ties if your temps are down in the 20-30s all the time. Down here in TX, it's no big deal. BTW, that B&M kit, what size lines does it have? The kit i put together uses -10AN (bout 1/2"). If it were smaller than that, I'd be concerned with flow capacity.

yes you can over cool your oil with an air/radiator based cooler... unlike the stock water based heat transfer device which is designed to equalize the temperatures of the two fluids to an extent...

that is why an aftermarket oil cooler is supposed to be plumbed with something like this:
http://www.aircooled.net/new-b...artid=

that way you arent cooling your oil while it's trying to warm up to operating temperature... or over-cooling it while you are driving around..
