I have heard of the stock cams being able to produce 200+whp using Mugen parts. With valve train upgrades,ECU,and higher comp headgasket is this possible? For $1,300 that ECU better be good for something. Any pros/cons to using the Mugen ECU?

 

It's not possible. You'd need more mods to reach 200whp. The ECU is overpriced for the same money you can get the Apex PowerFC which is a tuneable ECU.

 

That's the $1300 question, isn't it.
Nice results (by moving VTEC and redline), though you might need to up the fuel pressure a bit for best results (just a few lbs).

I'm considering getting an Apex-i Power FC for a future turbo job on my R, so I MIGHT be letting the Mugen ECU go (won't be cheap in any case). ed

How about the Comptech ECU? Then spend your money on other mods, would that work?

 

Comptech would prolly be OK.
The Mugen ECU wont trip the CEL (at least for test pipe purposes).

 

if you are on a budget i wouldnt recommend the mugen ecu..you can get similar results with other equipment...
