A friend of mine just purchased Mugen ECU from ebay. The ECU is for a B16. How can he check to see if the ECU is correctly programed?

 

What do you mean, correctly programmed?
If he purchased a true Mugen ECU, ... there shouldn't be any question.

If you want to know how to verify it's originality, which is what I believe you're asking ... maybe you can call King Motorsports and ask them what to look for inside the case.

Another thing ... try and put more pertinent info in the title line, like MUGEN ECU, etc. It will help in the search function aspects. Ed

So, your saying you've potentially got a Mugen "chipped" ECU?

I'm running a Mugen ECU in my ITR at the moment, and from what I've been led to believe, and have read, there's more to a Mugen ECU than just a "chip".

Apparently the whole internal architecture of the ECU is different.
However, here's a thought I just had.
The Mugen ECUdoesn't throw error codes, or at least not for the lack of a secondary O2 sensor, and probably other potentially problematic circumstances.
Also, the VTEC point is at about 4700, and redline is raised to about 9100.

I don't know what else I can tell you without actually opening one up and checking serial numbers and the like. HTH. Ed
