What are the obvious signs I need a valve adjustment...?
Besides mileage and maintainence issues. I'm asking about the tell-tale signs. Are the VTEC crossovers delayed? i.e. 4600 and 6200 vs. 4400 and 5800. Is gas mileage decreaced? I am wondering because my car seems to be trying to tell me something. I know I need one but haven't gotten around to it.
Abnormal engine ticking coming from the head. If its too loud then the valves are a lil loose and need tightening. As for the secondaries being delayed, they work on vacuum, so you might wanna check your lines and hoses.
so i found out that there is a hesitation while in VTEC too. maybe it could be a dirty fuel filter?
help me out guys!
help me out guys!
hmmm...maybe i should check the tech forum? i know someone can help me out here. this is after all a technical resource, or is everyone on GD&D?
I'd say if you feel a loss in power and a delay in vtec engagement, just do the basics. Change distributor, rotor, wires, plugs, check all vaccuum hoses on the IM. This could be a number of things. It never hurts to replace something like your fuel filter anyway. Be more specific and maybe someone can help you. When's the last time you changed the things listed above? When was the last major tune-up? How many miles on the car and when was each part last replaced/serviced?
i recently changed out the plugs and wires so that probably isn't it. i'm at 50,xxx miles right now. I haven't done a "major tune up" per say, but I regularly maintain my car. Is it time to replace my distributor and rotor? I'm going to check the vacuum lines tonight. anything else to look out for?
