MSD SCI-L Install HELP!
-Day 1-
I just bought a new MSD SCI-L Ignition with the Blaster 2 coil, and MSD wires. I have some NGK Iridium’s on the way. Today when I was installing it, I had to fabricate a bracket for it right next to the battery. It came out really solid. And the coil I placed to the left of it on the engine wall. It’s sweet! As soon as I have my header and exhaust put on this week I will post some pics. I have not wired it up yet only because I noticed in the instructions for certain models you have to open the ignition case and actually clip a few wires to make it work with a 4 cyl. Engine. It did not list the SCI-L model. I could wait till Monday and call Summit where I bought it from, but I was wondering if any of you guys have this ignition and if you had to do this.
Any help would be great.
-Day 2-
O.K. This is where im at with my ignition install. On the instruction diagram there are 6 wires coming from the SCI-L, 1 goes to the battery pos, 1 to the battery neg, 1 to the blaster coil pos, 1 to the blaster coil neg. That leaves me with 2 more wires. It says to connect them to the coil pos and neg at the distributor, the diagram says that one of the wires is black and yellow and one is blue and white. I have neither of those color wires under my distributor cap. There are 4 wire connections under the distributor cap. None of which are labeled positive and negative. I looked at my Haynes manual and the distributor example they give is not the same as mine, SUCKS! Can anyone tell me where on the diagram I have to connect the last 2 wires of my SCI-L.? Any help would be awesome. Also I still have not found out if I have to clip the wires inside the SCI-L to make it compatible with a 4 cyl. Engine.

The only wire that connected to the stock coil was the ignition wire that connects to the distributor cap. all of the coil connections are under the distributor cap. I need to connect 2 wires out of the 4 that are under the cap and i dont know which ones.
I labled them in the pic i took. A,B,C, and D.

What colors are the wires in the distributor cap? I know one is blue. You don't connect that one.
sorry, i don't have my Helms, and mine was external coil.

This has an external coil as well. Its that black thing to the left of the distributor cap. It kind of hard to see in that pic. The problem is that all of the connections from the coil to the distributor are under the distributor cap and none of them are labeled. 2 of the wires are like an aqua green color those are wires C, and D. Im not sure what color wires A, and B are. I will have to take another look.
What year car is it?
It was external coil factory? Then why did you waste your money on the MSD distributor cap, that wont work on your motor?

unless your running NOS or a turbo an ignition upgrade is a waste of money Honda OEM ignition is more then enough to handle basic boltons all your going to see is a smoother idol at low rpms also he's right what he sed about the external coil i know that 4th gen cant use them i think unless your distributor says Hitachi or something like that you cant use them

I called MSD Direct. Their tech guys are great! I spoke with this guy named Carlos. He told me exactly what wires had to be spliced and connected to the SCI.
When i was finished i took it for a test drive. I noticed a big difference. The throttle response is awesome. I am really glad i made this upgrade. I started to get worried for a minute because you guys were saying its a waste of time and money, but i think it was well worth it. Thanks for all the help guys.

Awesome. Yes, this is a great upgrade, people just don't know it. Everyone goes with what everyone else has said, and they don't know wtf they're talking about.
