Default air ride or adjustable coil-over suspension?

Which one IYO is better? I'm looking so spend about $1000 on my suspension. I want something that I can raise so I can finally leave my bank and drive down my mom's driveway without tearing up my bumper and lower for looks, and still have a decent handling. This is for my civic, I dont race much in it. Saving the performance for the crx.

Any pros or cons about either? I have a friend that has an air ride system on his 2K civic hopefully I will see him this week and drive it around. He got his kit with install for 900. It looks good and he said it rides good

coilovers if your limit is $1000, good air ride setup costs $3000+

you should be ok driving around the city on just a mildly lowered car. just gotta be a little bit slower over speed bumps and bumpy roads. you'll be ok with decent springs and shocks.

Im kinda leaning towards coil-overs. Anybody know of a good brand. I'm thinking about getting the matrix from summit. I want the whole suspension (struts with the coil-over), its about time for new struts.

I only need to raise the car about once a week. I drive highways most of the time, I just think it would be nice if I see a big dip I can raise the car without having to get out and raise it. I've almost been rearended a few times because I have to slow down alot to get through a dip. I know alot of people on this forum hates air suspension but it seems to make daily driving easier.

bags/cylinders would work good if you need to raise/lower it on the fly. Not gonna get it done for a grand though.

With air ride bags are always gonna pop and compressors are always gonna burn up.

How loud, is it annoying? Does it stay on the whole time or only when it needs to maintain pressure in the tank? I think I'll go with the air ride for the Civic cause its good for picking up chicks. I'll get coil-over suspension for the crx (thats my baby ) Should I build my own or get a kit and upgrade it when stuff starts breaking? Anybody know of any good DIY sites?

Thanks again

Just get some tein springs they wont lower your car that much but your car will still be lowered. Air bags are crap to me they wear out really fast compared to other suspension options. And if you want to get coilovers just get some nice ones like tein or jic. Save that other 800$$ you would spend on the kit and get springs. Spend it on the crx
