Default Time to say buy to the Type R...

Well it is time for me to sell it, but am not sure how much to ask. It is a 98 with only AEM intake, Apex rev/speed meter, and new RE730's. It has 46k miles and is garage kept, so it is in excellent shape. I live here in Texas and I can't seem to find more than 1 CW ITR for sale anywhere around the state. This tells me it is a nice time to sell. Since the new ITR won't be out for another couple of years and there are none around here I figure it is a sellers market. I am thinking about asking somewhere between 19500 and 21000. What do you guys think. There has to be somebody around Texas that just has to have a CW ITR. After all when I bought the car I flew to Kansas to buy it.

Pics can be seen here:

The car looks very clean. I am sure you will have no problem selling it for that amount.

Doug,
This is Jon. Don't know if you remember me, I go to school at Trinity and came up a couple times with Marcos to hang out with you. You're selling the R? Can I ask why? And what's gonna be your new transportation?

Jon

Of course I remember you. Can we say, paintball.

What you been up to? Where has Marcos been, haven't seen or heard from him in a looong time.

I am just sick of all the **** that comes with owning this car. Since the import scene has grown sooo much, it seems that EVERYBODY wants to race you and you can now park nowhere. I ran out of a friends house and chased 2 guys who set my perimeter sensor off the other night. It only sat there for 5 minutes! Since my car is garage kept, I have not had anything stolen (one of the few 98's with stock badges) but I am just sick of worrying about it. There are way too many kids now that are just plain stupid and dangerous in their frugal attempts to start a race. Hell, my girlfriend took my car to the store the other day and she was cut off and almost run off the road by some stupid kid that was pissed because she wouldn't race!

Anyway, I will be buying a BMW. I am looking at a used M3, M series Z3 or the 2.8 liter Z3. Not sure yet...

Honestly that could be a fair price if all you were selling it was in texas. But Alot of people buy them from out of state and I myself have found 2 R's for sale for less than that with less miles. But I am not one to flame, I am the one looking to buy R's right now.

You can sell your R for whatever you like its who will buy it for what you sell it for .

Either was im on vacation and not doing **** but going to the beach and reading these boards. So lets all go have a drink hehe

18500, would be a great price, my friend is selling his 98 cw ITR and I think he has somewhere around 49000 miles, AEM intake, stock 17" JDM wheels, NOS, and apexi v-tec programer. he is selling it for 18000.
I am looking for an R, I am up in dallas.

personally, i would not buy any vehicle that has or had NOS usage.

and, not to be a stickler, but don't you mean 16" JDM rims?

Hey, Doug, remember me, Will, from the ITR BBQ in Austin from March? Me and David came up there. Anyway sorry you feel you have to sell, I'd think Austin would be much more worry free than Houston. Anyway, good luck!
BTW, we might have an R meet end of this month if you still got your R

Hey Will, I remember you. I actually almost stripped out my rear seats like you did after looking at your car, looks good.. Where is the meet gonna be?

I agree, I would never buy any car that is running NOS. I have seen other ITR's out there also, but only 1 or CW models. There are 2 CW models on autotrader for 22,000! Anyway, my engine is untouched by mods, so is in great shape. I will probably ask 20k for it.

we need to collaborate and do the hybrid meet at the same place/time..

I always blink at buying an R...then i think of the hassles...

FYI some guy in this area Dallas/Plano/Allen

98 ITR ~35K Bone Stock with upgraded speakers and foglights..

respectfully Lawyer Driven he wanted 19000 and it wasnt selling fast at all..not sure if it ever did or not...

I drooled over and had a friend convinced to buy it... then the guy thought his check from PEOPLEFIRST was a fake... and beat around the bush.. friend bought the WRX.. and the R was forgotten... probably sold to an 18yr old plano fuggck where it now sports clean IS300 lights and "JDM" stickers .. and a sweet 900$ JDM exhaust.

Doug, this is Jonathan... man, can't believe you are selling the R. Have you had problems with vandalism/theft?

I am always careful so have been fotunate enough to not have anything stolen off it. Little things have happened here and there, but mostly I am just sick of always worrying.

I'm also kinda feelin those paranoid feelings everytime I goto the gym, the malls, movie theaters, etc... with my car. Who knows if I'll take this route. But all I know is that if my R gets stolen, I'm goin for an S2K this time! =D

I don't understand the logic of selling the R because of what may or may not ever happen...
Enjoy it. When it happens, then worry about it.

anyway, good luck.
