Default Questions about straight piping..

I have an exhaust leak from my flex pipe. Also i was told that my cat is breaking down and leaking as well.. i wanted to just buy a test pipe and a new flex pipe from accordingly done.com.. they seem to have great prices so no worries about that.
i do worry about my o2 sensor and how it would react to the piping. I assume it'd be well advised to have an o2 sensor bung installed on the test pipe but would i throw codes without the emissions restrictions that the cat offers?

Also about sound.. is it really true that the exhaust becomes noticably louder when you have no cat? I dunno how i feel about that.

Edit:: one thing i forgot- what size should i buy the pipe in? right now i have a thermal cat-back system (stealth) which i think is 2.25".. but i want this all to bolt up so should i stick with the 2.25"? Three flange bolts correct?
Thanks!

In Short:: Buying a test pipe. Will i throw CEL's w/ the o2 sensor installed on the pipe? What should i expect from installing the pipe?

4th gen?

I have a test pipe and throw no codes..... your O2 sensor is right before the cat correct? So the misssing cat would have no effect on O2 sensor readings.....also, I think the thermal is 2.5 inch, thats what mine is

and yeah, its a little louder......but not too bad

oh alright, i may have been mistaken wheni looked at the cat..i thought the o2 sensor was coming off it..but good, as long as i throw no codes. then i'm all set. i have a 4th gen so.. if thats how it works out..good. thank you.

so does that mean if you get an aftermarket header you won't have an o2 sensor?

most aftermarket headers have a bong so that you can still plug in your o2 sensor, if not you would probably get a cel code.
