I was working on my gauges installing white face ones and i put everything back together and it all works except the temperature gauge. As soon as i turn the switch it jumps up to hot and when I cut the switch off sometimes it falls all the way and somethimes it sticks. what could be wrong or what is causing this. Please Help!

try to free-up the needle slightly with the gauge just a little bit if that doesnt work be prepared to get another one. Cause you may have just ruined your needle bro to the junkyard it is my friend.

You didn't screw up your needle....

If you're a fourth gen w/ the electric gauge, then it sounds like you shorted it out somewhere. Check to see if you can see any lose wires or exposed areas that could be shorting out the circuit, and make sure all the connections are solid.

How did you manage to short out that guage? Its nowhere near the electric temp and gas gauge? I hope you weren't trying to put some sort of white face over that area!

its a 98 prelude and it is a tiptronic transmission. I was trying to put white face gauges on the insrument cluster. How can you mess up the needle?

You can mess up a gauge needle by breathing on it the wrong way........I've seen honda mechanics mess up needles, its that easy...... not sure about how hard they are to fix.......... i'd try taking it to someone who has put in a few faces before and see what they say

The gauge going straight to hot and sticking is telling me you've got a short in it's circuit.
Going all the way up is very bad for it. Hopefully you didn't let it sit, cause that can kill the gauge.

I finally managed to get it to quit going straight up to hot, but it still acts funny.
