Honda Prelude All Model Preludes

Why does PRELUDE motors sound like they ALWAYS need VALVE ADJUSTMENTS..IT ALWAYS TICKS.

mine ticks, but i also have a B21A1 motor.

and it needs a valve adjustment badly. screw that, ill swap for another

my friends 97 ticks like that, and honda told him it was NORMAL, but they also told him he didnt have any valve problem but we pulled the head and found 8 bent ones.

so uhh, dont know what to tell you

I have an H23 and it ticked alot when I first got it... then I did a valve adjustment and it was fine. Then well let's just say I had to fish some valvetrain bolts out of the oil pan. Now, all the adjustment in the world won't stop the ticking.

yeah its the injectors..most of the time it means they are working harder than their duty cycle is meant to work

In general, Honda valvetrains use solid lifters which are noisier than the hydraulic lifters used on many engines. Disadvantages - noisier & need adjustment on a regular basis. Advantages - much more reliable at high-rpms.

Personally, I like the sound of it. Very mechanical.
