Problems with a b16 swap
Hey guys,
I resently swaped in a b16a motor into my car and it's been having a lot of strange problems; the motor doesn't like starting in the mourning, it takes a couple cranks. The rev limitter is kicking in at 7000 rpm's and it wont go up to 8200 rpm's some please help me!

Timing off? That can affect start up... advance it more and it's more difficult to start. Maybe you have an Auto ECU for the limiter, though it sounds like your car is in limp mode. Do you have any check engine lights?
make sure that the car is completely warmed up before you start cranking on it, otherwise the ecu will lower the rev limiter or something similar. is vtec kicking in?
OK, this is the condition of my motor:
1. Check engine light is ON.
2. No Intake, just a cone air filter attached to the throttle body
3. Map sensor is not connected
4. Miss fires like every five seconds
5. I got new plugs, wires, cap and rotor (for distributer).
6. I have no idea about the ecu i have to check it out.
7. no O2 sensor
8. exhaust is welded on to the car (don't ask me why)
9. There is a piece of a Big Mac stuck in one of my CV Joints.
10. Dissregard number 9.
The timming isn't off, i don't have adjustable cam gears, and the belt is lined up correctly.
Thanks for all your help

Damn! I am surprised it starts at all!
well, you NEED to connect the MAP sensor, get the O2 sensors, yes you need 2.
You also need to lift the carpet and see what codes the ECU is throwing.
Start from there.

lmao big mack HAHAHAHAHA that was great. haha, anyway, you should try to rev out if its throin codes anyway, could be REALLY bad for your motor. hook EVERYTHING up the MAP and the O2's then reset the ecu (unplugg your battery for like a minute then conect it) if your check engine light is still on after that check the ecu, get the codes and fix the problems. do not drive it hard right now if you HAVE to drive it at all. better to replace something thats 20 bux then something thats about a grand right? let go from there, get back to us when those problems are fixed and we will try to help you more if there are anymore problems.
How is your exhaust welded to your car. Does this meen you do not have rubber hangers or did someone some how get the aluminum block to the cast exhaust manafold? Also after you fix the O2 and Map sensors. Get a timing light and check your timing. Cam timing and Ignition timing are not the same. Although by advancing your intake cam you also advance the ignition timing, because the dizy is spun off the ignition cam. The ignition timing can be adjusted by rotating the dizy. Do you know how to read a code from the ECU? Also find out what ECU you have. Take off the cover and look at the components. Look at the pgmfi sight and find the ECU that matches it. http://pgmfi.org/resources/FAQ/identification.html
It would help if you found out which OBD you are using.
