When did vin tags start coming with trannies?

Like the title says, i'm just curious. I'm looking for an ITR tranny and theres a '97 i'm lookin at right now. Just wanna make sure its not older then what its advertised. Thanks.

I believe on 96-up USDM cars they did. The 97 should have one as long as it's not JDM.

Well even if the JDM ones don't have the vin tags, they should have the holes for them, right? Please correct me if i'm wrong.

I would really like some info on this, i just bought a supposed 95 tranny and looks like the vin tag has been removed.

They have the holes for the VIN tag, just no VIN tag.
