Default What to do, bad sales transaction on the net

I traded a ls trans(cable) and 150 for a b17a shortblock. Well he sends the block, I send trans, no money yet. The block gets here today wrapped in a plastic bag. Yeah that is right, no pallet, no box, a clear plastic bag. Not the bad part yet, I start inspecting the block and the deck has sustained some serious damage in the form of dents That are deep and go halfway to the oil and cooling passages, still not the really bad part. I am mad now but I notice that the block has no serial numbers, just b17a stamped on it with the b and 1 looking really funny. Now I am pissed. I have called and emailed this guy numerous times with no return on his behalf. I will be leaving the US this year with my car, I can not even imagine how customs would look at a block with no numbers. WHat are my options and what is the sensible thing to do here.
The seller does not use this sight.

Yeah, I don't think I will send any money,as far as the motor, the internals should go right into a b16 block right, since the share blocks. Should I take the block down to the police since the block numbers are removed.

I'd scrap the whole transaction. Since the block doesn't have a number (stolen) and the deck is totalled, you might as well keep the internals (the police can't give it back to the owner, so it won't do any good). I'd just post his name/addy all over the net to make sure he doesn't do business again. -C

As for the cops, if you take the block to them, they have evidence against the bastard for theft. If you want to get him back (assuming you know name, number, addy, etc.), I'd give the police a call in his hometown and let them know what you've got. It's obviously stolen. Let them teach him a lesson.

He knew it was bad, now he is trying to scam UPS.

How the hell UPS going to do that much damage to a block!!??

This sounds like its going to be a loooooong battle. Walk away with what you have. If he demands $$$, tell him to send another block thats in working order, and you will send the old one back.

He types like a child. Not very proffesional.

damn.... that sucks so bad. I'm tellin you, internet Trade is very dangerous. Unless he lives close to you, and you can see him and trade it in person, I wouldn't send nothing over the mail.

I have done MANY Transactions on the net. Alot on eBay. I've been scammed twice, but I got my money back thanks to Online insurance.

The best way to do it is through a third party online system. Like eBay and such. If its through just email and stuff, I'd stay away.

Just some tips for all...

I'd only do internet trading through email with someone who I already feel is trustworthy. If I see someone posting things for sale with only 2 posts I don't even bother, even if they are offering good deals.
