is my car out of time?
well...i was working on the valve seals...did all 16 seals...everything went good...then the old man at my shop told me i had to take off the belt to work on the valve seals...this was a little before i worked on the valve seals....but anyways...i was told i didnt have to...now hes telling me i have to...he kept nagging about it...so i losen the tensioner bolt...and slid the belt to the side....got done with everything...slide the belt back on...and wen i put everything together...tried to start the engine...it would tried to start...but it cant start up....am i out of time? can it bend any valves? please let me know...thanks in advance...
It really depends on how far off your timing is as to whether you bent valves or not, more than likely you would have certainly heard it, what motor is it so we can help you with how to check the timing?
its a d15b2...when i start it up..it sounds smooth like its trying to start up...it doesnt pop, choke..or anything...it should be off becuz of wen i tighten back the tensioner...or it should be a tooth off....
your in aberdeen? I work around there. Whats your car look like? Anyway, line your crank up to TDC(top dead center). there are 4 marks on the crank pully. 3 together and one by itself, use that one. when you get it lined up, where does your cam point? If it's not reading TDC and your crank is. take off the belt, move the cam to it's TDC mark and slide the belt back on. I've done this a million times, honestly. if you need a hand PM me.
