oil pan patching
i have a hole in my oil pan. i have an 86 crx dx. i dont wanna replace the oil pan. i was going to fast on gravelk road, u knwo the deal i eneded up puttig 3 pin head sized holes in my oil pan. so far i used jb weld. is oil corrosive will it eat through that? im sixteen and dont know a ton but i know enough. yeah, i dont have the money to buy a new/used oil pan right now. i dont care much about it anywyas its my daily driver but i use it for HARDCORE RALLY RACING! yeah its fun so ha. ok dont preacvh to me about wasting a crx for that mines a pice of $hit so dont worry baout. k thnx for input
JB weld will work. To do it right, you need to drain the oil out of the pan. Thoroughly clean and lightly sand the area to be patched. Put on a thin layer of JB weld. Let it dry for 24 hours then put another layer on. Let that dry 24 hours more before you put oil back in the car.
Steve91 is correct. I just want to restate the importance of draining the oil before you patch it though. When jb weld is still liquid, it will actually absorb any oil, making it pourous and prone to leaks. If you make sure its clean and dry before hand, it will make a perfect patch. Remove the oil pan if possible before you patch it.
