for some reason, when i drive my car and i start to step on the gas, it makes this really annoying noise... like something is about to fall out... its like something is going thru a hollow metal pipe kind of sound it just sound like something that involves metal but i can't tell what it is.. should i take it to a mechanic or could someone explain what is wrong?

In this hot weather? Sounds like pinging (detonation).

Did you get the right grade of gas? A low octane gas in a higher compression engine (such as in the GSR) in this hot weather is not a great idea.

Just a guess.

Sounds like the rattle i have around 3k.. then goes away once i hit vtec.. maybe the cat.. or bpipe

 

HES RIGHT ITS PROBABLY THE CAT. SHEILD. I HAD TO HAVE MINE REPLACED ON MY OLD 97 GSR AT LEAST THREE TIMES....DEFECT??? ANYHOO IT ALSO COULD BE THE CV JOINTS. HOW OLD IS YOUR CAR?

 

check all your heatsheilds....check the break dust shields and check every bolt that is connected from yer header to yer muffler

 

thanks everyone it was a loose heatshield, i think the guy removed it or replace it or something...

 

ahh c i was right. thats gotta be the most annoying sound in a car. how old is your car?

 

my car is a 1995, but i got a 99 front end conversion on it.... now my exhaust is making noise... i love it...hahah good excuse to give to my mom to get me a new exhaust system.. hahahahahahah

 

If it's not a heat shield, maybe the catalyst actually came loose inside the cat? I've seen it happen to VW's; but no Honda's so far.
