Default Dragging Brake.

I've noticed a squeal while driving. I thought it was nothing. Then this morning it got loud. It was coming from the right rear of the car.

After a bit, my brake pedal feels soft and squishy. I stop, touch the rim. It's hotter than hell.

Apparently it has worn the pad down to the wear indicators. The fluid was probably boiling, so it made the brakes fade. I left it in the walmart parking lot and had my mom pick me up.

What should I do. I don't think the ebrake is causing it to drag. I plan on opening up the adjustment for it anyway....(which I believe is under the center console.)

I would be willing to bet you have a frozen caliper. Are both rear wheels hot or just the one?? If it's just one it's frozen if both your e-brake is prolly sticking.

have you gone through pads prematurely? if not it could just be the fact that you need to replace the pads and reset the caliper. that happened to one of my front wheels..it was worn like crazy on only one side... i doubt its the ebrake. but i could be mistaken.. just speaking from recent experience.

Just pull the caliper off. If your able to press the cyl in then that part is okay and it's the sliders. Just pill the sliders out if you can. It might not be easy or possible at all. Clean them up, put some new grease on them and put it all back together. If the cyl doesn't want to go back in then you are going to have to either try to rebuild it or buy a new one.

Also if there is no pad left at all then it might just need new pads. But if that was the case you would prolly hear a grinding noise rather than just a squeeking.
