RDU folk - who knows the "secret" route to VIR?
A while back I followed Diane up to VIR, and she led us on some back roads off of I-40 near Chapel Hill that made for a quick drive.
Anyone have the directions? Going to drop by on Saturday.

Don't ask me why I remember she posted them... I think it was because they looked so much more frightening than the route I take to get to VIR from here.

Take I-40 West to I-85 merge.
Take 2nd exit after merge. "Efland Exit" (160 maybe)
Take a right a the bottom of the exit ramp.
Take a left at the T, just over the railroad tracks.
Follow this road until it Ts into Hwy 86.
Take a left on Hwy 86.
Take a right on Hwy 119, just past South Elementary School. (maybe 10 minutes)
Follow this about 20 miles to Semora.
Take a left at the blinking light in Semora.
In about 5 miles, you will come upon Dotmond road. There is a sign for VIR there.
Take a right on Dotmond.
This will T into the road VIR is on at the gaudy house.
Take a right at that T, and VIR entry road is on the left.
</TD></TR></TABLE>
FYI - if you blow the right turn off of Hwy 86 on your way back, like I did today, you can keep going straight and you'll end up in Hillsborough. 70 West will get you back to I-40.
From Garner it was 1.5 hr each way.

Cool-ish temps (for August in central NC/VA at least). No rain, but it was threatening. Good day to watch some good racing.
How far is it for you, Ed? It's worth a 2, maybe 3 hour drive to watch. I didn't get a copy of the schedule, so I don't know what time the race is tomorrow.
I will say that the size of the field made it quite interesting for the spectators!

I'll bring the "beast" and maybe give a few rides in the countryside ... before or w/o the wine.

I'd love to meet you there, Ed, but I have a friend coming by to help wire the entire house with cat 5e. Internet access in the garage? You damn right
I'll have to take a raincheck on the test ride, and on the Merlot. Now, if you had offered up a 12-pack of Busch Light, you may have gotten a different answer

Some of us demand 100mb transfer on the LAN. Wireless doesn't blow my skirt up just yet. But yes, it would make things far easier.
Ed, we'll catch up soon
