Default D16Z6 questions

I'm new to the D series engines and don't know very much about them. I'm looking to build a streetable D16Z6 for daily driving while I build up my F/I car. I started reading through the forum last night but didn't find anything out about compression ratios. Is the D series similiar to the B series in maximum compression when using pump gas? Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

You'll want to hit up exospeedAMcrx. He is the man if you are gonna go D-series

RS Machines

A very common swap is to A1 or A6 pistons to up the C/R. Here is a good link to follow to check out different compression ratios for the D.

Internal wise right now, I'm thinking Eagle rods, Arias 11:1 pistons. Top end so far is ZEX street/strip cam, haven't looked into the valvetrain yet. Critique it.

If you are going all-motor I would stick with OEM parts for now. You can use shot peened LS rods and some A1 or A6 pistons for even more compression than the Arias 11:1. The Eagle Rods and forged pistons are probably overkill unless you plan on going nitrous or turbo. I am using Eagle rods and SRP pistons for my FI build up.

Yeah. I'm planning on adding a 50-75 shot somewhere down the road.

Eagle Rods and forged pistons are a good idea then.

Another good person to pick the brain of about D series motors is Mista Bone from here.

Have a friend here with single cam d16 vtec running 8.5 in the 1/8th. It is also his daily driver. All oem internals. Mostly headwork, hondata, i/h/e. Also lots of tuning to perfect it.
