Wanting to make a better 4th gen accord
hey all, ive only had some minor work done to my accord, its a 91 lx, 4dr and auto, i know it isnt the fastest thing in the world but ive had my fair share of wins, just wanna know what I could do that doesnt cost money, due to getting laid off, i was going to increase the rev on the fuel injector, get 91 octane fuel, i heard about removing cat converter, not sure on what to do and how much power i gain, if u guys have any ideas, i would appreciate it
thanks
thanks
dont mean to try to just jack your thread but since you do own a 4gen, i'd like to ask you this... do you feel your accord drives better than a lot of cars its age? i LOVE driving my 90 ex, i like the way it handles and i feel its pretty smooth. just wondering if fellow 4gen drivers felt the same.
yes, it runs very well, only normal wear and tear, it runs pretty quick i put in intake, performance cams, 2 1/4 piping, adjustable cam gear, dc header, crankshaft pulley, and performance pulleys. I havent ran it on the track yet, i know its prolly still in the mid to low 15s, just wanna get it faster, perhaps a chip? ( costly but i can get it if it would help moderately )

first off I say if you have enough dough swap your engine get an h22 and perform the swap yourself or have someone help you. How much are you lookin to spend thats a major factor but I would say wait and be safe and get yourself another job. Theres nothing good about not havin money for the car. I speak for everyone in here . Its like this if you wanna keep hookin up your car be sure to have enough money for maitenance behind it. Cause theres nothing worse than performing a run breaking down and not having enough money to fix it.
Performace parts gets up where we are going fater maintenace makes sure we even get there at all.

my 90 dx drives like a dream. i just bought it a couple days ago with 226000 miles on it (all freeway). i got a real good deal on it cuz the dealership i work at had it for sale. they were trying to sell it for 4495 and i got it for 1320. best 1320 ive ever spent.
gotta love the 4th gens. cant wait to rack up enough cash to drop an h22a in it...that will def be sweet...

I find that drving my 90 LX is more enjoyable than quite a few newer cars on the road. Some of the newer cars that I have driven just feel cheap and unrefined compared to my car. The accords just feel right, honda knew what they were doing when they designed that car. (if only it came with more power from the factory :-( but that is why we mod them. I would buy another 4th gen at a drop of a hat.
if i was you, i would sell ur 91 lx and find a manual. automatics just kill all your power, plus whats the fun in driving an auto? removing ur cat would make it easier for ur exhaust to breathe, so it would increase power, but not too noticably. plus if u remove the cat ur car becomes louder than hell, and im not sure if its in all states or just certain ones but if ur caught with no cat on ur car, its a hefty fine in the thousands. going to 91 octane wont give u a niticeable power gain. the only good thing about 91 is that it cleans ur engine better than 87 or 89. if i were you, i wouldnt bother, not unless you swapped a better engine in which obviously u dont wanna do that. if i were you, i would wait till i got another job, save up for the h22a and jus install it urself or find a friend who knows how. thats where all the fun is.
