Default Accord 6th-gen vs. 7th-gen

I am thinking of getting an Accord (4-cyl). I did some research and found that the 7th-gen had some quality and reliability problems, especially with the 5-spd auto tranny. The 6th-gen is probably more reliable. The years I'm aiming for are 2001 for the 6th-gen and 2004 for the 7th-gen.

The 7th-gen will be more fuel efficient and probably quicker, but it will probably be less reliable and more expensive. I can't split them on looks, though.

So, which one should I get? Should I really worry about the 7th-gen's reliability problems?

Thanks.
