I tried to search but found nothing saying if the jdm front end conversion will pass inspection. I would think as long as the headlights and turnsignals work than it would pass. True or not? Thanx for the help in advance.

you will pass whatever inspection you have to go through. jus wondering, who the hell is gonna "inspect" your car?

What about a car that was hit and totalled by the insurance company and then the owner buys it back and repairs it with a JDM ITR front end. I know the car must go through an inspection before it can be driven on the street again. Has anyone ever heard of a problem passing the inspection?

I am about to do this to a car but I have been worried that the car will fail the inspection because of the headlights and bumper support.

 

IN MD we only have a ONE TIME Inspection when ever you transfer the title of a car.
Title the car and then do the conversion and NO PORBLEM

If you have a state safety inspection like Virginia's, then it will depend on how strict the inspector is.

<u>Technically</u> and strictly speaking, the JDM ITR nose will not pass Virginia safety inspection; however, everyone I know with a JDM nose in Virginia has no problem with their inspectors.

The technical problems that I'm aware of are:

(1)You've removed the US approved safety front end, and the JDM nose was never approved for the US safety standards.
(2)Your JDM OEM HID headlights do not pass safety standards. Your non-HID JDM OEM headlights are not configured for driving on the right side of the road. No JDM OEM ITR headlights have DOT marks on them, and if the inspector actually wanted to check for those marks, or measure the alignment or lumens, you would be in trouble.
(3)White signal lights in the front, high wattage foglights, and non-DOT side marker lights will always be a problem for some inspectors.

In practical application, I do not know anyone who has failed a state safety inspection in Virginia because of an OEM JDM ITR nose.

I got yanked in PW Co for bright lights. But I try to stay away from PW Co though, too many ricers wanting to race, lol.

20 bux??? Is that all? I had to pay 60 for the first Inspection and then after I fixed everything (Tires and Axel boot) they wanted me to pay another 40 for a damn LIFT FEE so I took it to another Place and got the whole car reinspected for 50.
Where did you get your car inspected?

 

I had a connection from the place that did my motor swap. I was the cousin of a friend (hint hint wink wink).

Hell we could give it a try but I don't know if it will work. I have broken ties with that shop after the lousey job they did on my Civic.

 

got my JDM front teg inspected with the help of a 20 dollar bill also... the JDM front had no problem passing. back when I didnt have a cat... I wouldnt pass smog regluations. Now I have a catco cat and im fine.

The main reason I had to pay the "extra fee" was to get my car to pass with a lowered suspension and larger wheels and tires. No other problems prevented me from passing

 

Well if they messed up on your Car then I don't want to have anything to do with them AT ALL

a friend of mine took his gsr w/ itr front end conversion to the local CHP station here in san diego, and he was able to pass the safety inspection. they just checked if the signals and everything were functioning correctly. he had to bring the car the because is was salvaged, and the CHP had to tag the car with a "new" vin/blue tag, that would be the only time i think that you have to have your car inspected this way, unless you're bringing you car from out of state/overseas or something...other than that, the only inspection we have to worry about is the "smog" inspection...
