how to program a v-afc?
I recently bought a vafc for my '94 civic ex d16z6. Damm i didnt know it can get expensive(installation and then a dyno tune). i read the manual and i think ill be able to install it now the progaramming is the hard part. Anyone out knows a easy way to program it and without a dyno. Im thinking of getting a fpr will that just make it harder to program?

do not atempt to mess with the settings on that controller unless you fully understand how to work it and you fully understand the limitations of the engine. One wrong setting and you will destroy your engine instantly. Installing is easy if you have knowledge of wireing and such. but tuning is tricky. Put it this way ive been working on cars since i was 5 so ive learned alot over the last 22 years and i wouldnt even attempt to mess with that thing unless of course i get somone who knows how to do it, to show me. Untill then its dyno and tuner time, sucks that it cost so much but its a must
Oh yeah i almost forgot if your engine is completely stock internal wise then you just bought your self a 300 dollar fancy looking toy cause it will be useless for you. I say this because you asked about vtec settings, well if you have stock cams and fuel injectors and blah blah then changing the vtec point will do nothing but hurt your performance.
put it this way, vtec is designed to kick in at the optimum point when the engine is just right like rpm speed blah blah well if you understand how vtec works youll understand that switching to the more agressive lobe and a earlier point then originally designed with the same stock internals will not get you "vtec kick in at a lower rpm yeah!!!!" it will get you bogging and loss of power mabey not enought for you to notice but if you were on a track runnin for times you woud see it.
vafc's are to be the last purchase you make after all your other mods are completed. i say this cause if you for example put in a header and vafc then have it dyno and tuned thats a few bucks right there then a few weeks later you put cams in ok back to the dyno for retune more money ok a month later you do injectors and pump back to the dyno you go. so if you waited till the end you could have saved yourself two useless dyno runs and a hell of alot of money.
