Default Help needed with a gsr engine.

Here is my problem. I have a gsr engine in my 94 dx and under unfortunate circumstances I blew the head gasket. My question is this. Is there any way for me to remove the head without having to take the entire head apart? I guess what I am trying to ask is do I have to remove the cams and valves and such or will the head just unbolt from the block. Any help you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and God Bless!!

yeah for the dohc engines you will have to take the cams out. you can leave the valves alone

Yea olike tilt said...you dont have to touch the valves but the head bolts are located directley under the cams so get to yankin

honda recommends you change your head bolts. but i've swapped so many heads without getting new head bolts.. and havent had a problem. just make sure you torque the head in the correct order, and right torque specs. you might also want to send your head to the machine shop.. to make sure it not warped..
